Quote:Dec 19 - Welcome to Chromosome "There is a lot to look forward in the next few months, and we will be amping up the frequency of our developer blogs to keep you informed of our progress, so stay tuned." Sep 14 - Player Corporations in Dust 514 "You can create a corporation, design its logo, assign roles, accept and take part in corporation battles (there will be another dev blog about this topic)"
No blog regarding these features as of yet.
Quote:July 05 - Dropsuits in Dust 514 Part 2 "Nevertheless, teamwork is an important facet of DUST 514GÇÖs gameplay, and the Command dropsuit is the lynchpin of this philosophy. The only suit capable of equipping squad modules, it provides area-of-effect bonuses to allied units or cripples enemies caught within range of its modulesGÇÖ effects. WeGÇÖll talk more about it and the Pilot dropsuit in a future blog."
Command and Pilot dropsuits, their capabilities and modules seem to have been shelved, abandoned or simply never further elaborated on besides the occasional passing mention in IRC postings after this.
Quote:Apr 26 - Dynamic Battlefields "However, the placement of and the types of surface structures available will vary based on decisions made about what is needed for that district on a corporate level. And this will be covered in more detail in a later blog focused on Surface Infrastructure."
Besides what was mentioned in the blog itself there was no coverage regarding the actual mechanics, their utilization or how they would impact the game.
Quote:Dec 20 (2011) - Dropsuits in Dust 514 "Equipment slots allow the dropsuit to carry deployable or handheld equipment such as scanners, nanohives, drop uplinks, repair tools and more that will be covered in a future blog."
No substantial information besides a subtle hint here and there among the remainder of the dev blogs.
Quote:Nov 06 (2011) The Future of War: Dust 514's Mobile Command Center (MCC) "(We will give more insight into the gameGÇÖs command hierarchy, the system that allows players to group up into squads that are led by a player commander, in a blog post soon)."
Vaguely covered squad system in August 31st dev blog: "Introducing Dust 514's Instant Battle Matchmaker" but no mention of any command hierarchy or player commander. Also mentions something of a "caelus" class MCC. No clue on that one. |

Can't speak on any other but the most recent and that is they just returned this week from being on holiday. So would think within a week or two.
On the rest I agree it would be nice to see the DEV Blogs stated. |

I think I heard something about the pilot and command dropsuits on Cast 514 or somewhere.
Remember hearing that pilot dropsuits could drive vehicles more effectively and they had some sort of special ability. |

So having a pilot suit and driving an LAV will not longer feel like another LAV is welded to the top of it? O_o; |

Dev blogging isn't what we need. They are tuned for the people not under NDA and are a marketing vehicle.
Dev forum posts are.
If you look at Eve before dev blogs occur there are usually multiple forum posts in which the devs directly solicit feedback with LONG posts and then respond in the threads.
They ask questions, state their ideas and respond with why something might work or not from a game design and coding perspective
We get basically none of that on the Dust514 side. We get few, very late, over produced marketing dev blogs and a few videos.
Thank you for pointing out the numerous non-existent devblogs in their own words however, I liked your post. |

Dev Blog wrote: DEC-19 ... We have also fused the markets from DUST 514 and EVE Online, and merged the in-game corporation mechanic, so that both trade and corporate alliances are now shared between the two.... :/

I'm here for the CCP that loves the sandbox and relishes customer feedback since they seem to be the best MMO company at understanding the players make the game worth playing as long as the tools to interact are fun and diverse. We have been getting progressively worse since E3, which I still consider the staple of good, diverse gameplay and feedback. Hell, the devs even jumped in matches with us and talked, and sometimes you ran into random staff who wanted to know our impressions in the game. Someone decided to muzzle the PR when we complained about the "marketing talk" gimmicks like "new maps" that were just the maps we lost from instant queue. We would all be a lot less cranky if they just spent 30 minutes a week talking to us. Instead, we can't even get dev blogs more than 1 every 2-3 months. I am disappointed because I expect better, having seen it. So what happened to them? |

30 minutes a week of talking to us wouldn't solve a thing. They need to take a step back and stop catering to the masses and actually look into the things themselves with their own QA department and see if things are -seriously- over powered or just annoying to deal with. Otherwise you get this massive death spree that the game is now as the suits aren't holding up against the guns. It went from a "I have better skills, better equipment and more experience" to "I have more friends than you", so there's no real return value for actually putting your more expensive assets on the line.
They wanted it to be less about the gear and more about the skills - well, they got that and it's honestly terrible. Might as well just standardize everything and save some memory instead of having a dozen variants of the same gun that all do the same amount of damage in the long run of things.

WELL SAID. i agree the Dev's have had way too many knee jerk reactionary nerf's and in the process the game we have now has lost much of its uniqueness to other FPS. i actually thought the idea of NOT having a flat level of equipment and weapon stats was a good thing and made dust unique. unfortunately the Dev;'s have now succeeded in trying to produce battlefield 3 in space and its beginning to lose its appeal since i have very little reason to want to p;lay to upgrade my equipment or weapons as they are no better than lower tiers. PLEASE CCP give us higher tier weapons that actually are higher tier in more than price like we used to have. it absolutely makes sense for CCP because it gives us more reason to grind and play or spend real money for that higher tier weapon. I know a lot of people were whining but honestly they are only looking out for their personal k/dr and ego rather than the overall good of the game. nothing was OP 2 builds ago except maybe missles but now they got overnerfed. there were enough things that could be used to counter every other thing that nothing was OP if teamwork and strategy was used. I also think the dropsuit flattening was also overdone .
All my .02 isk of course

It's pointless to want CCP to do anything because they're going to do what they think is best. There's always going to be knee jerk reactions when it comes to nerfing because they haven't learned how to do things like they're done in Eve Online - with a scalpel. |

OP does a fine job pointing out how a developer will promise you the moon and deliver a moon rendered in an 1999 FPS engine. |
