Talking to some new players and they have brought up the issue of not being able to afford anything. They also claim that it limits their fun factor. I know CCP would like to keep new players, evidenced by all of these nerfs...so this is something worth paying atttention to.
Now, either increasing ISK rewards or reducing dropsuit module & weapon costs does a few things. First off, I propose another increase in ISK rewards over nerfing gear costs. But instead of nerfing proto weapons or bringing them closer together...you increase the ISK rewards and allow new players to afford higher end gear. I don't know how CCP should do it or how much because you don't want a proto spam.....but by increasing the rewards, we are encouraging newbies to step their gear up, which is the point.
This helps the new players and helps keep the game's concept working as intended. It will also help heavies because the gear cost only works for those that dies less than 3x or so a game. I don't like going against heavies but I do sympathize with what they have to shell out for gear.
So, instead of nerfing the guns, increase the ISK rewards so that everyone can somewhat afford them. Maybe just enough for them to afford to only bring them out when they need to....as opposed to those who can spam proto gear because they're skilled and don't die as much. Because you don't want a system where only the elite can afford proto gear because they'll pwn militia players, which will keep them from earning enough to afford adv gear. Flattening the weapons shouldn't be the fix....we really should be encouraging everyone to step up. Because, honestly, as long as there is a difference.....the proto weapons will have just the advantage they'll need to come out on top. |

One thing to be careful in increasing ISK rewards DUST side is that CCP needs to balance it out with how easy and much, in general, it is to gather up ISK in EVE. Now reason for this is that if either side is overtly ahead of other, then is promotes ISK farming on the other side, milking it and transferring it to the other side.

Wrong.
ISK is easy if you watch your builds and don't waste proto gear in public matches. I can easily make 500K to a 1M in ISK in a night or two (at the most). On Wednesday you can make that in one night and four matches.
The only time that isn't true is for HAV and DS. But they rarely bring six HAVs out to play ... and then lose them all.

I don't think ISK rewards are an issue this build. The SP rewards however are way too low. |

I wish I could agree with upping how much ISK we get each match.
If CCP was to up the earn of ISK per match, you'd see everyone running prototype gear and I'm sure CCP doesn't want to see that since back in early June, you could unlock prototype gear within a day of play and make enough to buy 100 suits of it within a few games. The game is meant to budget players, not cater to them and let them use upper tier gear 24/7. If you can't afford to use it all the time than use it rarely. Further more, once we go to low and null sec, we'll be making enough to probably run tech 1 gear in pub games if they add tech 2 gear that is.
To simply put it, if they can't afford it all the time than learn to budget. |

Sorry, I can't agree, I think that isk rewards are fine.
Mainly because it doesn't fit with what I think this game is about. Everything has a cost. As they said above, I think we should not be able to field our best gear every game unless we are very, very good or our corp is so rich that it can fund us.
Standard gear is not expensive at all and quite affordable, and it gives a fair fighting chance. Most average players I know can afford to run advanced gear at least half the games, with the current rewards. Now, prototype is expensive. But after all they are prototypes, not mass produced things, so it would be strange if everybody had one.
You have a point in that new players have little chance against veteran players. But that's not so much because the isk rewards are low as it is because the sp gap. Even if both had the same gear, veterans have a lot of passive bonus and more levels in their skills.
If you increase the isk rewards, who is to say that veteran players wont start to spam prototype tanks instead of duvolles?
Just my opinion. |

I think the rewards are fine as-is.
But that said - I also think that the ISK barrier can't be CCP's way of limiting gear. ISK barriers don't work because players always have more money than the devs think. The best example of this is titans in eve. They were made to be insanely expensive and cost about 60-70 billion ISK to build and another 10-30 billion isk to fit (Thousands of real life dollars worth of ISK) And were intended to be so exspensive that each alliance could only afford a couple. Now everyone who lives in nullsec and their brother have a titan. Some alliances can field fleets of 50-100 of these beasts at a time and not really care.
Same thing will happen in dust. Affording proto will only be a problem for a while. And then no one will care.
Money cannot be a barrier for use in a game if the item is intended to be scarcely used. All it does is hurt new players who don't have the massive ISK pools built up yet. |

well said. once EVE ISK starts flowing and corps start gettin richer then nothing is stoppin these rich corps from running proto gear in hisec pubs. Only hurts the casuals and newbies and a game like this needs to have a constant influx of fresh faces imo |

I told them that I'll try and suggest this....
Listen, I like ISK rewards the way they are now as well. But we can't think for ourselves all the time. The people that play this game regularly loves everything the way it is now. But we have to also pay attention to the potential playerbase.
And I agree that ccp shouldn't cater to noobs but this doesn't hurt the game's concept nor is it a nerf. It actually promotes players to level up instead of staying in militia gear and constantly getting owned every game. And it is a cycle because if they cantr compete, they can't earn enough to afford better gear unless they use aur.
A type II suit with a damage mod, GEK, shield extender, etc will run close to $50K. If they die 5 times...that's $250K. And if they're not at the top of the list then they'll earn less than $200K. That's just going to force them to back down to militia grade gear....it is perpetual.
Especially when they allow ISK transfers....ISK won't mean anything to most players unless you are a new player. So, what difference will it make if they increase ISK rewards? It will only help the game and allow new players to compete. It is better than flattening all the gear and ruining the concept of the game. |

We're going to be taking planets. Planets filled with resources. I wouldn't worry too much about ISK rewards yet. They seem fine as a per game reward. If there is no Dust industry, then I'd say it might need looking into. |
