And watch all the folks get upset over not being able to noob stomp some day 1 noobs thanks to a request like this
The problem: Day 1 noobs versus seasoned Beta Veterans is bad matcmakeing.
The Solution?: In EVE its Hi-Sec, Low-Sec and Null-Sec areas and you have the EVE playerbase in THREE areas.
Perhaps??? The Dust playerbase in three areas?? Hi-Sec in Dust 514??: NPC Corporations ONLY! in this area
Low-Sec: PLAYER created Corporations in this area with top five player Corporations excluded.?
Null-Sec. PLAYER created Corporations that are the TOP FIVE in total kills or War Points??
This way when you have a match you get noobs versus noobs and medium talent veterans versus medium talent veterans and hard core elite veterans versus hard core elite veterans.
Its not perfect but it looks like a better alternative to the "matchmakeing" that we have now that tosses lone day 1 ramdoms versus several squads of elite Player Corporations.
But, but, but it fractures the playerbase into three areas!
Yeah well so does EVE and it works good in that game and so folks deal with it in that game. Just asking for something better than the broken "matchmakeing" that we have in Dust right now. |

A day 1 player in Eve can go straight to nullsec and a 5 year vet can live in highsec ... it doesn't work quite as clear cut as you suggest.
There's nothing (in theory) wrong with the current matchmaking system ... I believe it's more to do with the current low player count in beta and the lack of PVE for new players or factional warfare or sovereignty battles etc. etc. etc. |

In EVE they are given a CHOICE on what areas to game in! In Dust that choice is MISSING!!
You see nothing?? wrong about a bunch of day1 randoms versus seasoned Elite Dust Veterans?? You see nothing about how WRONG that is?? How UNBALANCED and BROKEN it is??
Yeah it may be fun to pubstomp some newbs but its WRONG and its BROKEN if it makes it to release like this then expect many newbs to try it a bit and get pubstomped and then they just hit the DELETE button on the Dust 514 game.
We are NOT! here to enjoy going 30 and 0. WE are here to try and make Dust 514 WORKABLE for the vast majority and that vast majority includes many carebears who have no FPS talent and there needs to be an area where its noobs only by CHOICE, midlevel veterans by choice and elite veterans by choice.
So if you have the case of a day 1 noob with talent that wants to play versus the Elite then hey!! give them the OPTION! to try and do not!! FORCE them to.
CHOICES are much better than the broken system of FORCEING them to face elite veterans.
Why is it theres always "folks" who see nothing wrong about broken swarms in Replication, broken remote explosives in E3 build, broken repairtools in Precursor,............sigh.
I guess my thread is useless? Sigh.
If nothing changes then this game will only be favored by the MINORITY. Anywho time for Borderlands 2.

Ok ... first of all ... calm down !
Numbered by your paragraphs :
1. That choice is missing in DUST because DUST is a beta ... an incomplete game ... a game in development ... as I said things like PVE, Factional Warfare and Sovereignty will draw the elites to nullsec for the higher rewards and new players into highsec PVE for the security while leaving new players the option to join an elite corp and fight in nullsec ... which your idea doesnt allow.
2. Throwing around words like broken and unbalanced is completely irrelevant to your thread ... as I said (but this time I'll capitalise it so you might understand it) ... there's nothing 'IN THEORY' wrong with the current matchmaking system. Its ment to put people with similar pevels of total sp into matches together ... but with low numbers playing and seperated AU, US and EU servers, there isn't enough elite players and new players wanting to join a battle at the same time to separate them. The only solution during beta would involve you waiting up to 20 minutes for the battle with your level of players in to finish so you can join them in the next one.
3. To be honest I played with one of these last night ... I squaded with his brother in law to help him figure out how to get squaded together and got their mics working ... we joined a battle ... was 2 full squads of SI red dots in a small complex ambush map and we got stomped ... before I had chance to say this isn't a good introduction to DUST ... he said 'this is garbage' and deleted it ... if they're too dumb to realise it was an unbalanced match in an unfinished game or just one of these people that doesnt want to play sometthing unless they can dominate it ... then it's their loss ... as it will be yours ... good ridence.
4. Exactly ! ... choice being the operative word ... a new player should have some aspect of safety in highsec with the option of going out of his depth into nullsec for higher rewards at higher risks ... as an elite veteran should have the CHOICE to battle in highsec for lower rewards at reduced risk ! ... that's not to say an elite should be able to stomp new players using proto gear in highsec there can be limitations as there are with capital ships in Eve, but hopefully the low payouts will be enough to deter them and attract new players to work their way up to nullsec.
5. Well your idea doesn't give them that choice does it ? ... your idea was nullsec is only for elite corps that are in the top 5 of the leaderboards ... which is simply laughable !
6. And the current matchmaking system won't force anyone out of their depth once there are enough numbers to put equally skilled players into the same match.
7. Because there's always people crying nerf this, nerf that, before all the pieces of the puzzle are out of the box ! I've specialised in swarms since I got bored of my maxed Surya in E3 and I'm glad you bring it up ... it's a perfect example of something that's been nerfed and buffed and it's targets nerfed and buffed into oblivion, I forget where Replication fitted in, but if it was when Swarms launched in the direction you pointed them and then tracked to target ... the ONLY problem with them was the fact they could lock targets without line of sight ... currently at least they don't detour into the nearest hillside, they only lock targets that are partially visible and the launching and pathing arent too bad, but they've been through the wash to get back there. Repair tools have never been broken ... the mechanics they used were easy to exploit ... it was axed from rewards until a fix could be introduced and now works to a reasonable degree. And remote explosives were just grenades and werent being used as intended ... the only people seeing nothing wrong there were the ones using them as they werent intended. I dont really see your point to this paragraph ... Ive already told you why the matchmaking system isn't working as intended ... it's in my first reply.
8. There it is ... you've hit the nail square on the head !
9. One word ... BETA ... if nothing changes we'd be 'post release' and playing a game that won't have regular major patches ... DUST is neither of those games.

Thanks for posting in my thread. Hopefully around Feb. the 15th we get a carebear map area that only lets folks play if they have starter fits and after a week it kicks them out to the rest of the Beta Tester Sharks in the rest of the maps? |

It really has nothing to do with match making, it really comes down to this beta has no balance or wants balance. the more you try to separate players the less number of players are in each match. This is not a open world game meaning you need to have the number of players before you start the round. Since you Eve players love the niche game , meaning we don't care if we have low player counts than you will definitely being waiting for rounds to the point no one goes to your null sec as you call it and downgrade for player counts to high sec and if the player count is really low everyone will still be in low sec games.
Also if Spawning and Snipers don't get fixed no one will be caring to attach high gear , just stay in low sec with militia gear and not worry about 5/10 shot in the back spawns , 3/10 pointless to shoot at guys, 2/10 lucky kills by someone else softening them up and dieing.
Why is there no balance , while CCP stuck to what they knew a RPG, Sometimes i think they designed a FPS by watching Youtube clips. |
