Close your eyes and try to picture this : Your playing ambush, you spawn with your back facing 2 squads of enemy all of which have proto weapons and up. Due to the black screen that shows up when your in the process of spawning they have a few seconds to pump plasma/lead into your suit killing you before you see light. Solution, the shield overcharge. When spawning in, your shield will boost up to 7 times (just a example number dont freak out) your current shield for a few seconds while you are spawning to give you a chance to move for cover and not instantly die. After the seconds run up, the boost will dissipate and you will have normal shield. The Overcharge could have its own meter that would be colored orange to both the enemy and the user with a timer beside it. In overcharge mode you can not shoot back , if you do the overcharge dissipates.

and then you are immediately shot to death when your shield dissipates. if you spawn right in front of that many people, you'd still die immediately. you can't do anything about bad spawns. put an uplink and keep it well guarded. that is all. |

I find that crappy spawning tends to happen early in the match, usually i wait a bit because if the game just starts usually it spawns me next to one enemy everytime and its just a matter of who gets in game first that gets the kill.
The rest of the time its sporadic and usually keeps me away from the action, usually i find i get spawned killed more when we are losing, not sure if its cause the game is trying to spawn me near teammate and as a result putting me in the crosshairs of an enemy who notices the very obviousl appearance of a clone out of thin air. |

Ho, ho, ho. Funny, funny Merc with the big guns.
Try any of the HK Merc battles or, God forbid, when they cycle one of those little, bitty maps from HK sessions through Ambush. Then you can spawn early, middle and late. Just to wind up; in a corner, in front of a red, in front of five reds, get carped at by Kitten In The Box about obligations when there are six bloody red little berries moving all over the only spawn point on the map.
If it was truly random then it wouldn't be so universally bad. Something has gotten the hosing in the code. |

Would instead prefer they reduce the time when you've basically spawned in the game, but unable to move/see, perhaps add a 1 second invulnerability.
Alternatively, let us do HALO jumps in Ambush, where we can control our descent a bit (minor control, get a bit away from the reds), and when we drop incur a penalty (visual, control, something) on those in the immediate vicinity so drops into a group of red can be used offensively.

I'm surprised there isn't an option to perform an inertia-canceler drop from the War Barge, which would land you somewhere around the chosen spawn beacon. It's not like it's an un-heard of tactic. Just watch the trailer that pops up when you start DUST 514 for a good example. |
