As others have said, typically alpha builds are about getting all the content into the game and beta builds/testing are about tweaking the content. Do you think that we will see any substantial new features by open beta or release? If so what do you think will be added to the game? How much time do you think it would take us to test those features?
I've only been in the beta since early fall but in the 2 or 3 updates I've seen they have all been mostly tweaking the existing combat. The biggest changes I have seen are a couple of new maps and different map lighting per match.
Faction warfare seems like something that would require a LOT of testing since it will have an impact on EVE Online and CCP doesn't want to anger those customers.
The same goes for the player market/economy. Lots of testing will be required to make sure it is balanced and there aren't any glaring exploits.
There are plenty of other features like randomized map layout or race variant equipment that we haven't seen much of but aren't critical for release.
It just seems like either the game won't be released for at least another year, features will be added and not properly tested or this is it. Admittedly this is all speculation. CCP haven't shared their release plans or even what priority any features actually have. |

We are playing some 10-15% of the game currently, or so they tell me. If you mean will the latency issues get any better, then no. |

Less than 1% if you take into the account the entire game's 10 year plan that was drafted.

Well the public beta is only one build away, and usually once the PB releases the game is pretty finalized.
But this game is much different than most, as other games once the final release usually not much else is done (except for DLC and some fixes). But For Dust, the final release is only the beginning.
So from this build to final release, there probably isn't going to be too much difference. But from this build to one a year from now, will be massively different. |

Honestly I think it will be very different on release considering how large this is supposed to be. For all we know the Public Beta will last several months, leading toward more feedback and suggestions. |

The more sucessful, the more we can look to dramatic differences. Over time. Thing could be massive. Or it could be MAG. |

Reupped a very old account in Eve recently... No, not even close to what this game will be.
When Dust integrates with the economy, this game and it's purpose will drastically change. I seriously can't believe next build is Open Beta, unless next build adds a ton of features. |

Open beta might add some features but CCP probably wants a massive reaction to the final build.

There's a lot more content to come, and it will be patched into the DUST build in the months and years following open beta.
Just guessing, but what open beta means for CCP is prolly three major things:
1) Client stability - no crashing(well, not much, anyway)
2) CREST working smoothly between EVE and DUST and vice versa(Note that the CREST API 3rd party developer thingy is going live atm.....hmmmm)
3) The core game mechanics are deemed 'ready for public review' by CCP(Pls Remember CCP that you won't be forgiven by the potential playerbase or the press if the open beta is anything other than a 'AAA FPS experience' - the temptation to say 'that's pretty good, let's start adding all these cool features' must be maddening, but it's a probably-fatal error. You have to put your money where your mouth was and is, namely 'AAA FPS experience' - DUST has to feel noticeably better than industry standard).
Pertinent to the third point, it's been a while since I've seen any threads on the forums seriously discussing the core fps mechanics. Lots of balancing/tweaking feedback threads now, but not much on core mechanics. |

Not at all. Think of it more like an MMO in this respect: I expect their will be constant change, tweaking, and addition and the game will never truly be static. Especially considering the unique relationship of this particular game to an exiting MMO, you ain't seen the half of it. Original MMO beta's can be quite different from the product a year or two into release. |

I agree that between this current build and final release there might not be much difference with the exception of faction warfare. But if you ask people how DUST would be at least one year from now, then people will tell you that the apple will turn into an orange by then. |

we still need pilot suits command suits and the structures we can build, I picture chaos when taht first gets released.
we are still missing map variety and for the game to be more, dynamic I guess is the word, right now the matches feel typical battlefield(1942 etc) style and not at all have a fate of a corp in a mercs hands feel |

CCP stated in their last Dev blog that the game is going to change dramatically. Just from now to open beta they state that everything will change, the way we get into a match, the SP system, fittings, I do believe they state something about vehicles as well.
So expect some changes just in what we have, let alone what they decide to add for the open beta to keep eyes popping. |

player count will increase big time initially. subsequently... player quality will decrease even bigger time. just pure garbage bottom of the barrel incompetence for a couple months.
eventually most will get choked out of the game from incompetence or just lack of attention span.
the ones that give a f will move to null sec if there ever is one.
the ones who don't will hide in high then move on to bf4 or whatever tired version of cod comes out next.
GTA V is gonna crush this game if they make the mistake of trying to release concurrently against rockstar.
beta should lose a huge chunk of players once gta comes out.
bf3 has a big money tournament sitting in the rafters that many real clans will go play in. shouldn't matter over here too much.
this game faces a buncha hurdles, least of all the actual game itself, which is currently somewhat ok considering the scale of what was planned.

New weapons, drop suits, modules etc. The last couple of builds have been minor compared to the older ones, which were completely different and changed the game completely. |
