i've gotten hand to hand combat recently, and i run a complex myofibrial stimulant on all my fits, and i still cant one shot anything, except maybe a scout. i'm not saying you should buff normal melee, but maybe a higher increase on the skill and on the myofibs, because i get a lot of kills, and i run out of ammo a lot and most of my deaths happen because my fully specced melee won't kill in one hit! in the build where knifes were the melee attack, a fully specced knife did like 500 damage! a fully specced melee attack should be a one hit kill on everything but a heavy. i think a 200% increase (100 from skill and 100 from myofibs) would suffice. either that, or add melee proficiency with a 100% increase at level 5. |

Yets take this real for a second if you trained for hand to hand combat in real life and punched someone they would not die after one hit and people can take a couple blows from the butt of the rifle before they go down in real life and you are wear a dropsuit on here so no you should not be able to kill some one in one hit unless you have a knife |

I don't think this is a good idea, otherwise, why ever bother with a nova knife? |

100% mod and 100% from skill would 4 times the base damage, the bonus are multiplied, so it is 135*2*2=540 damage for basic melee. Add a second melee mod and it's 8 times the base damage, 3 and you have 16 times the damage, 2160 damage and the rifle but starts being an anti-vehicle weapon.
The melee damage wasn't lowered when the animation was changed. 135*1.5*1.5*1.5*1.1=501.1875 damage, A fully specced melee build still does over 500 damage with 3 damage mods. The only reduction in damage is weaponry gives 10% instead of 25% at lv5. |

Melee needs a buff. That I agree. But the OP's idea of a buff is not what I would agree with.
The problem with the melee is actually with the size of the hit area in relation to the target's hit box. To get even a relatively decent melee would require the target to be directly in front of you and not move much. That is a little hard to achieve with all the mercs running around left and right. Therefore, adding a buff to the values is not the solution. Widening the hit area is the proper solution.
Besides, people are already claiming that the melee actually does more damage than the Nova Knife (currently) which by itself is pretty insulting. |

No OHKO melee. With a knife or other specialized melee weapon, maybe, but by itself it is a terrible gameplay decision. Lets look at COD real quick. We have people OHKO knifing people while being shot, meaning that a knife is better than your fancy guns Now MAG. You CAN OHKO from a knife to the back, promoting stealth, but a melee from the front needs two or three swipes to even think about killing a light trooper, far more for heavies. I'll say maybe boosting melee from the back if you are using a KNIFE, but let us defer to rule 197 of the Overlord List: I will explain to my Legions of Terror(being us) that guns are ranged weapons and swords are not. Anyone who attempts to throw a sword at the hero or club him with a gun will be summarily executed. |

I'm actually of the complete opposite viewpoint of the OP. Base melee is too strong in it's current form, when compared to a specialized weapon like the Nova knife.
Just bashing someone with your rifle/pistol/whatever does 135 base damage before you consider skills. A knife does 190 at the prototype level. As your skills go up the gap widens a bit, but in most cases you really are better off just sticking with a gun and punching people if you want to use a melee build because you still have the range of a gun if things go sour or you run into groups. The knives really are a niche weapon and while you can be pretty devastating with them.... The regular melee with any weapon is generally just as effective, if not more so! Nearly any suit you can OHK with knives, you can also OHK with a regular melee at the same skills. Any suit that would take you two swings with the knife, would take two wit hte regular melee. The only real difference is that to charge + swing the knife you aren't using stamina.
Regular base melee damage needs to be dropped to like 90. It'd still be 130 with L5 hand to hand before you consider modules, and you'd still be able to hit 350 or so with a couple melee damage mods which is still enough to OHK most weaker fits. The main difference being that people don't get an absurd amount of melee power for no investment, yet it doesn't make the melee compeltely useless, as you'd still be able to finish off someone quickly in close quarters while you are both reloading (Which is where melee comes into play the majority of the time)
EDIT: Also, I don't know what the OP is on about, when it comes to not being able to OHK people with regular melee. With a scout suit with one damage mod I can OHK almost anyone I see who isn't a heavy, without using my knives. That's not good IMO. |
