Hello all,
I have been playing for 3 days and was wondering how I become a Heavy. I guess what I am looking for is, where do I put my SP to make sure I am maximizing my SP. Any assistance is appreciated. |

Do a forum search for "mercs helping mercs" and it will get you started.
The method I stumbled on myself is looking at the equipment I want in the market place. Then I just check prerequisites for it. If it has a green check mark you can buy it but a red X says you don't have something it requires. Look at the HMG, it requires Weapons level 5. That is a lot of SP, btw. You can buy a Militia Grade Heavy drop suit in the Market for 795 ISK. Nice way to try out the forge gun and the swarm doesn't need a heavy suit.
But, you need Heavy Weapons Operations, Sharpshooter, etc.
And! you need to have good shields and armor. Which you need the skills for them as well.
Lots to learn. The search is probably the best place to start.

What speciality did you choose?
If I remember correctly, if you choose sentinel, you get a heavy fitting with a forge gun as one of you starter fits.
If you've only been playing three days, it might be worth starting a new character who's a sentinel. |

Mechanics and armor repair skills are important.
field mechanics boosts armor hp by 5% per level and armor repair lets you have a constant passive repair to your armor.
having a repair mod is essential as even a type II's shields will get dropped and take armor damage so you need a way to get your armor fixed to stay in the game. |

Welcome to the game abbner dude.
I answered a question similar to yours a while back for Praetor Legatus in his post "A little heavy help." Hopefully, it will help you out as well :)
Keep the faith. |
