When you fall like 5 feet you still take damage. There should be a higher minimum fall length before you take damage, or better yet a safe roll to reduce damage after an average fall length (pressing x right before you hit the ground). |

Mmm... I'll have to disagree, yes you take fall damage from small falls but thats hardly a dent in your shield which will regenerate rapidly. A moderate fall will deplete your shield and damage your armour a bit and an even larger fall you'll be granted use of the inertia dampener. I have yet to fall to my death and have only seen people fall to their deaths when A) they jump out of MCC's and don't activate inertia dampeners or B) Are reduced to jack all Armour(<5%) by a gunfight and try jump off a ledge |

Hmmm, perhaps you should try playing a sniper for a while and see just how much damage a small drop can and does do. In certain areas you can fall as OP 5 feet and loose a percentage of shield. Other places you can fall a few inches and loose a life :(

I agree. I once fell and died from a rather short height. I mean, we have inertia dampeners, but you can't activate those unless you spend a considerable amount of time falling. I think we should only take fall damage when we fall long enough to activate our inertia dampeners but don't, and/or take less fall damage in general. I mean, we can survive quite a bit in our dropsuits, I think a fall should be on that list. |

I played Sniper non stop for about a week before chromosome and those odd spots where you die from a few inches are bugs in the terrain, if you don't land then it counts as falling despite you just hovering inches above the ground thus when you touch down after say 3 seconds of hovering it's taken by the system as 3 seconds of free falling. |

Should only take damage from times you could activate inertia dampeners but don't? Now is there ever a situation where you'd not use the inertia dampener if it pops up on the screen? Yes our dropsuits do protect us but on the same token they don't save us from shattered legs from jumping from too high. In my roamings I've found I only take fall damage if I jump and fall a length of approximately one and a half to double my own suit height. So assuming that our mercs are about... 1.7m tall you're looking at a drop of 2.55m-3.4m before you take damage if you jumped from that height in real life you'd get quite the shock on your legs and I assure you it would sting if not outright hurt. So I'm still in the opinion of while dropsuits do help protect us just like regular body armour they don't help with falls. Unless you're dropping far enough to use an inertia dampener. |

I have always found the fall damage int his game ridiculous. The dropsuits are the frontier of infantry warfare - we fire guns that have a kickback strong enough to kill an ordinary person. And yet you'll notice a bit of damage from leaping off the side of the stairs - hell, in real life, people don't need dropsuits to walk away from triple the height of that without a scratch, albeit the skilled ones. I don't think fall damage should be removed, but definitely negated. It's embarrassing to see a full mercenary die from a three foot drop because they forgot they only had a few plates of armour left - and more importantly, that it mattered. |
