The main problem here is that our Playstation IDs are not very connected to our Dust account/characters. Dust needs to take advantage of features available if it is going to catch on with regular ps3 users.
One of the big benefits to online gaming on the PS3 is that we can turn on our playstation and look at our friend list to see what they are doing and maybe join in. There are a couple problems in this area.
We need a streamlined function to look at a Dust character profile and have the option to send a PSN friend request. Right now we can see a player's PSN ID in small font and write it down, then go to the PSN crossbar and send a friend request.
Many gamers already have large friend lists on the PS3 and Dust usually involves a large contact list (especially in big corporations) that doesn't always serve the same purpose. We almost need a separate function in the crossbar. Like a news feed app that we can go to to get a quick popup with information like "24 of 135 Dust contacts online" maybe even news like "your corp has a battle scheduled at 15:00 GMT today". If Sony is dedicated to making this succeed on their system they should be willing to help make this work.
If we do see a friend is playing Dust and join the game it can be a pain finding them. It might be useful to have a separate in game friends list as well as contact list. The friends list would allow you to see what chat public channels players are in and join matches if they are public and have space. The friends list would also work to find players even if they are using alternate characters. |

A option to hide psn id is also needed, having it there would prevent many of the sneaky eve things. Doesn't matter in my case since it's the same name and I have only 2 psn friends, but I see where others would need it. |

It would also be nice to be able to find out someone's DUST name if you were already PSN friends with them. I have had to ask a couple of previous PSN friends what their DUST names were in order to try to play with them. In most PS3 games, this is a null issue. I can understand that some people might not want this for sneaky alt reasons though, maybe having this sort of link as an toggle-able option would be better. |

Yes, allowing sneaky activity and balancing everyday common needs is going to be tricky. Though I'm sure there will be some devoted players with multiple PSN accounts on their system doing that stuff (or even two ps3s). It will be foolish to make a sneaky backstabbing alt on the same account since we can already see their PSN name in profile. |
