Since DUST 514 is a futuristic FPS, I think there should be a battlesuit mech |

Welcome from under the rock. Been talked about multiple times since early last year.
Do a quick search on MTAC and see what I mean. |

It is alongside hover bikes as one of those things that would be really cool, and not improve the gameplay in the slightest. |

While they have been confirmed, I disagree that we need battle mechs. Realistically, even with advanced technology, you won't find a better armored land chassis than the kind a tank uses.
Some of the more unrealistic parts a battle mech can have, and I have seen them have.
- Arms used for only holding guns. Why not just turrets? Turrets are more durable and less fragile.
- Humanoid legs. Under fire, such a system would realistically be fragile, large, and not redundant enough.
- A head. The only time a battle mech should have a "head" is if there isn't anything important in it. Heads are fragile.
- Useless aesthetic details to make it look more like something it isn't.
Spider legs are okay, since those would work better than tracks and wheels on rough terrain. Arms with hydraulic clamps and tools would be fine as well, since you can't really do that with a turret. A "head" that is actually heavily armored with no neck shouldn't really be considered a head in traditional usage. If useless aesthetic details actually serve a purpose, even a light one, then it isn't a useless aesthetic detail. |
