So I tried to drive a HAV and a LAV, and both felt... wrong in the controls. I think the source of it is the fact that you use the left stick for both steering and forward and backwards movement. So sometimes I want to steer right but I stop moving forwards because I accidently moved the stick too much or I want to turn around but instead I move backwards etc'. My suggestion is to change it so R2/L2 control your forward/backwards movement while the stick is used for driving. That's how most games do it anyway. |

I too find the HAV difficult to control with one stick. Most often it manifests itself by pivoting in the opposite direction I intend when backing up. It's not only very frustrating, but the main thing that gets my toy destroyed.
It's tough enough to keep a HAV in one piece without having it fight you. |

I would like to change the controls too...however
R2 is used to pull up your module screen and to active them R1 is the fire your weapon
I forgot what L2 and L1 do. You would think that L1 and L2 can control the acceleration and Left Stick to to turn. That how it is for the dropships now. Might as well streamline the controls and use them for acceleration on the tanks.

True, but most games don't have a module screen to activate and use, which limits the possible button schemes you would "want" to use/ or would like to use. Since dust is half RPG and half FPS, its difficult to put everything you like about most mainstream FPS's into a game that is not really meant to become an FPS only game. |

L2 and L1 are used for zooming in and shooting with your weapons in the tank. And what does it matter that most games don't have the module screen? There are other places to map it to. R3 and L3 are completely unused. |

I'm just saying that what most games can do, Dust can't always do. There is potential for Dust to be on par with the others, but it won't be an exact copy in terms of gameplay and style. But that's another discussion all together.
L3 or R3 could be useful for the module screen, but that would be kinda clumsy, and it wouldn't stream well with what you use on foot...R2.
What might be more complicated, but it could also work, have L2 as acceleration forward only, and pull back the stick to move back. I don't know...but the controls for the vehicles do need to be changed. |

They used to be fine but they screwed with them and messed it all up.. I just got in a drop ship today and thought it was the same and just lost one because all the buttons were stuck on the screen and they were all wrong for what they did.. lol
But yeah. major fixing needs to be done here. They reversed all the controls to something weird as crap.
R2 and L2 are used for different things in the game R2 is for fitting options. |
