During the latest Episode of Podside (iTunes Podcast), we were joined by CSM member Hans Jagerblitzen (Also Beta Tester in Betamax) to speak on what he could about the CSM winter Summit. During the discussion Hans was asked if there was any portion of the summit that didnGÇÖt go smoothly or as planned, Hans replied about the section of GÇ£DUST 514GÇ¥. He simply put it that while CCP was presenting the Dust portion of the summit to them, they just simply lacked any knowledge of the game due to the fact none of them (outside of Hans) play the beta or interact with the DEVs involved with DUST 514. He went on to say that they where then given a GÇ£Crash CourseGÇ¥ about DUST 514 and will have more meeting (over comps) to come about DUST due to the lack of interaction and of enthusiasm for the game. It was interesting to hear how though none of these individuals play DUST still didnGÇÖt hold some of them back from speaking against the game.
The topic was then brought up by Hans about DUST being represented in the CSM. He stated that though it probably wouldnGÇÖt be possible this year for DUST to have its own counsel, he spoke about how he could see someone being elected on the current CSM to represent DUST 514 (Granted the Votes are there)
I am unsure of the plans that CCP has about DUST 514 being represented on the CSM in 2013, but it dose seem clear to me that it is needed. This first year is the most important.
This new episode of Podside will be out this week

HAHAHA, you're so desperate to get on the CSM and be seen as someone important as part of the community that you're openly telling lies.
I've been speaking to Selene recently and i know of at least 3 CSM members that have been playing the beta and one of them is in Betamax.
Zion you really don't need to go to these lengths to get voted in, if you want it that desperately people won't vote you on principle just because it will be funny to see you rage when its all over. Seriously, stop pushing the topic, there are FAR FAR more important things that need doing first of all like getting the beta community to work together on balance issues.
If you think you're really the man for the CSM position then you need to stop posting as Nameless 514 for a start and then you need to show people that you're responsible enough and get enough results for them to even give a ****.
Why are you so interested in the CSM? It never really achieves much anyway. You just after the free trips to Iceland and to help boost your ego? |

No its not because the CSM do not have Omnipotent ability's to decide what gets added or balanced. The community needs to get its act together as a whole for that to happen, the CSM will make zero ******* difference. |

Don't let that discourage you. Sometimes you have to tap into your inner forum warrior to get your point across.
But there is some hope. The Mittani has given Dust 514 some ample coverage on the matter but even his own members of Goonswarm are showing levels of resistance on the matter.
Remember, a lot of these Eve players are already pissed off that Dust 514 is not a PC game at the moment. Some still bicker over the fact that it's not even being made for the Xbox anymore*. So it comes as no surprise that Eve players are highly skeptical, if not overly pessimistic, about Dust 514. Many are even hoping for Dust to fail in the hopes that it would force CCP to finally port it over to PC for once. A pretty twisted mind these capsuleers have.
I'm a capsuleer as well, but unlike some of them, I am not overly pessimistic. In fact, I'm just being realistic with an open mind. Dust 514 has potential and can give capsuleers a run for their money, but it has a long way to go to prove that. Even I expect that Dust will take 9 years (just like Eve) to flourish before we are finally taken seriously.
It's a grueling process, I know. But it's the best we can do to show capsuleers what we can do. They are not going to give us their respect just because we asked for it. To gain respect from the Eve community, the Dust community must work extremely hard to earn that respect just like it took the CSM over 7 years to earn the respect it worked for from the players.
* - Some don't realize that it was Microsoft that caused the problem because of their overly-strict policies towards MMO, free updates, and cross-platform connection. Sony was the only company that gave CCP what they needed. |

That very much is true. Faction Warfare is a good start, but you are right to assume that a lot of Eve players will not take Dust seriously unless sovereignty warfare is involved. Even then CCP has to be careful as to how involved dust would be on the matter.
CCP has to make it happen so that Dust would not be so uninvolved that Eve players don't feel any impact being made but at the same time not make it so involved that Dust becomes a burden for Eve players. |

I'd be more active in the Dust section of the EVE forums, however there are two issues. 1 NDA 2 the EVE-O forums are full of horrid people.
Most of the CSM reps the large Null sec blocks, and don't want anything that might challenge their power. I don't blame them, but still.
As to their lack of knowledge, well what do you expect, they don't want it to be good so why help make it better?

I dont want to be on the CSM. At all, period.
More good can be done for the game by helping the community than having some sort of badge that people think makes them special in a game.
If someone's that desperate to get on the CSM it shows a serious lack of any achievements in real life in my opinion. I have far more important things to concern myself with right now than sitting in a room and pretending to be a voice for the community while pushing my own personal in game agendas.

eve players actually try to play. they actually know what the f they are doing. most pc gamers do.
most console gamers couldn't hit water if they fell out of a boat. not a chance in hell that any 514 players, groups or solo, will so much as dent the nullsec in eve let alone actually make the eve players feel anything but meh towards the 514 players. not gonna happen. ok maybe if EVERY single one of you all join forces into one giant clan that basically entails ALL the 514 players taking on the eve players... maybe you might get a shot off. but the infighting, insecurity and most of all incompetence would tear you guys to pieces in 2 weeks. tops.

I dont know why but I feel a lot of negativity coming from this thread. :P
I guess I will chip in and say I hope DUST does more than just become a little sideshow of EVE. If CCP is afraid to make DUST an integral part of nullsec, and have EVE and DUST fully linked and interdependent, then the whole "one universe, one war" is bullcrap IMO.
I feel like DUST and EVE should be heavily involved together in nullsec. High sec, no, low sec more involved, but null sec should require the huge alliances to work together in DUST and EVE if their opponent does so.
What I guess I am saying is, if there is a battle for a system in EVE where its only capsuleers vs capsuleers, then thats that. But the DUST EVE link should be great enough that if one capsuleer side sends in DUST mercs on the ground as well as fighting in space, then the other side would need to also. Partial dependence, you see? |

Dust isn't supposed to "compete" with EvE. It,s not a war between the two. Sure, maybe later on, but you seem pretty damn negative. For a beta, it seems like things are moving along great. Dozens of clans, with gaps between the great, and an in game tournament which worked out nicely other than the trouble with competitor list at the beginning. People in dust actually give a f*** about how the game turns out, unlike the EvE players that are still bi*ching that it's not on PC. Well, they can f*** off too. An fps isn't like their little point and click adventure (apologies beforehand to non hater EvE players, just trying to make a point) and they wouldn't last a minute. |

He always posts under the nameless account when it's something he don't want to be affiliated with his CSM attempt in the future. He'd a get much more of my respect, like other people on the forums if he was just honest and didn't have such an obsession with goons.
lol shad is nameless? smh if that is indeed true

He's not the only person that posts as Nameless, but ZionShad set the account up and got the ball rolling. Some ROFL members have posted under that account too, possibly one Tritan industrys members too but i'm still following that one up. |

It's all perfectly normal for New Eden. The Metagaming here's going to be like nothing you guys have seen before.
We have two P.I's on our Goonwaffe payroll as directors. Which gives me just that little bit more information on people, i like to make sure i'm placing my trust in the right people. |

Ultimately it's all up to CCP isn't it?
They set the rules for the universe so they determine how much of an impact DUST will have on EVE.
Or am I wrong about who really controls this game? |

Or am I wrong about who really controls this game? You'd be surprised as to how much gets done by EvE btiching. |

I can see CCP being senstive to the player base when making changes to the universe, but there must be a limit. CCP is putting a huge amount of resources into developing DUST and I don't see them throwing it all away just because EvE players are understandably afraid of change. It's human nature to protect the status quo and I would be surprised if CCP wasn't aware of that.
I expect CCP to take their time to ensure the least disruption to EvE when DUST is integrated, but to some degree disruption is exactly what CCP wanted when it invented DUST.
Ultimately it's up to CCP how much EvE players will have to care about DUST. |

I am loving both games. (I might have dropped two of my EVE accounts and gone to skill flipping on the other two -- like EVE, I am not good at DUST 514 but I am loving it.)

Why will it? Dust is going to be the same as EVE and get tweaked and patched and things added as time goes on so once the game is released things will still change. Just look at how Sub caps are getting revamped in EVE right now. |
