The beta is almost offically open to everyone! Soon as CCP opens the gates we will all be flooded with a hored of players..who will instantly complain about ever detail and say its a rip off of CoD (gotta love those fanboys) but yeah prepare for 95% of your team to be complete nubs...
So are you guys excited about the open? Or just not really excited? (Before anyone ask I been in the beta since E3 so about 6 months and this post is really just for lols so please no hate and just a honest comment) |

No, im not looking forward to it. the whinethreads are going to go up by a few orders of magnitude.
Yes im looking forward to welcoming in all the new players who think this will be scifi COD. I intend to welcome them with a mass driver. i imagine more than a few will believe grenade launcher rounds that detonate on impact are OP and need to bounce around for a few seconds. |

I honestly think many of them may quit.
It's not that Dust is a bad game, but it feels much different than any other FPS I've played. It took me a couple dozen hours to get acquainted with the controls. I almost quit during the learning curve, because I couldn't get the controls down to how I like them. |

There HAS to be gear restricted matches available when the beta goes open. It's just not fair putting newbs out vs all our established corps (who all enjoy using higher tier gear).
#1 way to stop players all rage quitting, provide a range of games with "fair" gear restrictions. Eventually, they'll have enough ISK & gear to go to unrestricted games, but they need to be eased into the game. I still have friends who say Dust is too complicated, simply because there's so much choice. If you know what you want, it's not that complicated (yet). If you're a nOOb, you just want to shoot face. And fighting people with weapons and equipment it'll take you months to get is a deal breaker.
I know the whole "New Eden isn't fair" thing, but it sorta is. Only when you start mind, but normally in EvE, things only seem to get aggressive in Low/Null. I had a 14 day trial, and the NPCs were more aggressive than the players. |

Im not looking forward to the open beta because I like the community we've built, and like you said people are going to be coming in with the mindset that this is the finished product (blame bf3 glorified demo with beta label) and they will rip it apart for the advice it's etc that WE know will get ironed out fir release. I guess some new cannon fodder is going to be cool. But apart from that, up to official release, im going to try to stick with the mercs I know.

I just hope it comes with a full sp reset so it is somewhat of a level playing field we dont need any advantages over them we already know DUST like the back of our hands, DUST learning curve is gonna scare quite a few away but i hope there are some "easy" missions for the new guys to practic on maybe PVE to learn the rope before being thrown at us even if there is like a VR room added to DUST to allow people to practic this that and the other VRS variable AI with out being hunted by experienced players i know i was hoping for such a training ground when i started all those months ago.
I think a good way to seperate us out for the time being is to allow people to go into a no squad game only individuals can join on there own it wont stop corps from attempting to sync into a match but it will make it harder for them to get a presence on true new guy fights |

exactly, we should have another tab in the battle finder where its individual join only. no squads. and then another tab just like what we have where randoms can join in and so can squads...then we can have squad only games. |

Though you maybe right that wont be the case across the board. Ive seen plenty of betas and games in general destroyed by noob rage that winds up on the forums. The fact is in many other games the people on the forums are the vocal minority while the happy majority are playing the game. This beta community is different because this game is a true beta work in progress so the community is made up of players who care about the direction and dont simply want changes for the sake of making the game simpler/easier for themself at the expense of the core gameplay.
The open beta WILL change that and there will be plenty of noob rage, or they will just flat out give up especially the players who come in looking for this to be their next FPS until next COD release with no appreciation for RPG type games.
However i have many friends who are waiting for open beta who play RPG's as frequently as FPS and other MP games so we will see more of them too. |

i'm not looking forward to all the drama like they will flood the forums and QQ that this is not balanced, the games too hard, i can't fit a dropsuit, this is not fair, etc. when all the testers have already got that off their chests we now have to hear it from noobs and CCP will probably listen to them even tho we will be shouting back at them "BUT THEY ALREADY NERFED THAT LAST MONTH" |

A better idea is a matchmaking system that does a scale of your sp. And pits you againts prople that have somewhat. Equal sp making complete fairness |

EVE has a much steeper learning curve and I actually like it because it keeps out a lot of the idiots.
The FPS genre, probably due to its popularity, seems to be full of idiots, so I think a bit of a learning curve is a good thing. |

This game also isn't about instant gratification like CoD. Dust takes some patience to get into. I'm still fairly new to the game and it's rough when you're first starting out. I see what this game has to offer, though, both now and in the future. I'm here to stay. There is no limit to what CCP can do with Dust, provided the funding is there.

Our characters will be getting reset when the open beta rolls around (the next and last reset). So it's not as if there is going to be a bunch of players who have no idea about anything, coming into the game day 1 against teams full of proto players.
They will be severely outmatched in terms of Dust experience, but the gear will be equal (for a little while that is). |
