Not quite sure about this... Iff adding a weapon, make it useful and have variants at all meta levels...
Its a waste to make it only good for new players. |

I don't see CCP taking those out since they're basically Dust's version of the rookie ships. You only start with a certain amount of isk anyways. |

Its for free anyway, and it doesn't cost anything.
It's not only for new players, but for all existing players.
Variants would imply ISK spending, and the point of this back up weapon is not to waste an ISK.
Think of it this way: it's not the best weapon to use out in the battlefield, but heck, it's a weapon nonetheless, better then nothing (or in some instances better then a weapon with no ammo left)

Right now they provide suits and some weapons at the start. 100 suits and 50 weapons and modules. That's more then plenty to build up some ISK and get going.
But in the event of a player losing it all (or selling it all) this would be the weapon of choice.
CCP could reduce the starter suits to just one outfit. I know they won't leave you suitless and weaponless, but this weapon is just another choice among the other rookie ship type weapons and suits.

I don't see them doing that. They like to have things so players have options. They're not going to just take them away and leave the players with one starter fit to work with. It'd be a worth less weapon anyways. Having to charge the thing, then managing to move around and hit someone with it. Then having to recharge it for the next shot. Yeah, it'd be a waste. |
