Explain to me the advantages of an armor tank at all. We get slowed down. The damage reduction possible is much lower. And for some reason shield tanks are still able to use Rail guns. Not seeing any advantages to armor, someone explain. |

they are the anti-infantry... I see Armor tanks do very well when they are supporting their infantry against the blob... or supporting objectives. They are vulnerable to the zerg of militia swarms that eventually come out of the woodwork and of course to rail guns.... but that's where you have to have more coordination with the overall team to protect yourselves. I think they did it wrong by making the armor tank the blaster tank, though... the slow armor tank shouldn't be the short range guns, IMO.
That all being said, i wouldn't pull out a blaster tank unless you have some teammates you trust running with you in the boots. |

shields are good against explosions, hmgs, armor against laser fire and flux grenades
We still don't have laser turrets, and auto-cannons either
Shield regenerates, armor can be repaired via repair tool, but doesn't regenerate, but does come with higher base numbers
Armor tanks are technically the better tank atm with an organised team (pocket logis repairing/remote repair modules), can be near impossible to kill
Solo, shield tanks are better (single squad) because they regenerate on their own, resistant to explosions (swarm + av grenades + mass drivers) |

Armor tanks take far less damage from forge rounds.
This may only be for LAVs (haven't checked the sizes) but there's a kind of armor plate that doesn't add as much armor as regular plates, but doesn't slow you down.
Armor plates as a whole tend to add more points of armor than shield extenders add point of shields. What does this mean? It'll be more difficult for hybrid weapons to take down an armor tank than a shield tank. |

Also, I've seen Armor Tanks with 8-12 k total HP, and they dominate, while a Shield Tank who stacks up on shields will be killed much quicker. Shield tanks require use of various modules and resistance is the one major advantage they have. |

But they take far more damage from swarm rounds and they are easily the most common AV weapon used against tanks.
I cry for the fate of armor tanks, I suppose in corp battles or well organised squads they can shine, but for now i'll be using a gunnlogi for pubbie games. |

this is the way i view it shield tanks are more solo and can manage fine solo armor works best in a coordinated squad/team
both are good alto id say shields are still better due to the fact swarms require no skill to use and can still lock onto u through cover/jump shots/follow u around cover
i think once the swarm launcher finally gets redesigned the balance between shields and armor will be alot better
PS: needs to have a better penalty to using shield extenders tbh, plates reduce ur speed and extenders increase sig? not good enough seeing as anyone can just check the map and see where u are....... |
