I still lag like crazy when i play the beta. I want to enjoy playing Dust, but this is so annoying. I play in a lot of Betas (Just finished playing some God of War Ascensions beta) but this one lags the most of everything. How is everyone else playing it?
I remember playing in Starhawk beta that during a certain time it would lag a lot because the developers would be working in progress. Anything like that is related to Dust? |

It would also be helpful to know what region you are in, which region server you are connecting to, and how much other traffic is on your connection. |

I actually thought the 2 GB update i had to do would resolve the lagging issues. When I first came on the dust forums, a lot of people were saying that it lags. Now I'm surprise to hear this.. |

Then you may need to submit a bug report, as I have not had any lag in the last two builds.
oh I forgot the other half of the question, is it connection lag or frame lag? |

Ok. I really haven't gotten a chance to enjoy Dust 514 because of this issue. I recently put my Ps3 on a DMZ connection, should I check how the gameplay flows and then come back here to tell?

I am usually lagging most of the time. At least now the frame-rate lag seems to be gone, but now it's the network lag that often cripples me in game. The first night I played the new build it was amazingly smooth, but every night after I have suffered.
The way this game handles network lag is horrible, it's just like COD. Where you rubber-band back to where you were, and studder and move very choppy. Even if I stand still, my character moves side-to-side randomly. Often times it takes me a good 30 seconds just to move a few feet, and this seems to happen at intervals of every few minuets.
When I get a smooth game, I can usually do quite well, even with all militia grade stuff. People drop near instantly, I can track targets easily, and hits actually count. It's beyond embarrassing playing with this lag, as it is extremely difficult for me to do well when I battle lag more than I battle players. Worst part is, the lag rears it's ugly face pretty much at the worst time possible every time.
When I read about people having little to no problems like this and seeing that they are really good players, I understand why. |

If your having frame lag, which has been mostly addressed with this patch then you need to submit a bug report detailing when where and what is going on so it can be researched and fixed. connection lag is entirely outside of ccp's control.
I do know of alot of people who have installed SSD's in their ps3's and experinced a massive improvement in all areas of the game. |

I still have the frame-rate issue. My character moves side to side and I sometimes see my enemies flying across the map. Tell me about embrrssment , I usually don't let anyone around play the beta on my ps3 because of this issue. |

In the last build I had few frame lag spikes, and sometimes natural lag (mostly from my crappy south american internet connection) but this new build is running like the silk for me... well, frame lags once in a while but it's not a big deal since I barely notice them now. |

Starhawk wasn't a true beta. Was it for only like a week like battlefield 3? Dust has been in close beta for like a year. This ain't even open beta yet lol |

This ain't even open beta yet lol Starhawk beta ran for several months closed and at least a couple of weeks' open beta, and saw updates as it went. I only got open beta access, but I knew a couple of people in the closed beta, and it had several updates, and going open beta came with another, while there was a further update about a week before the beta's end (before the game went "gold") that took it to basically the final release state.
It wasn't as long or in-depth as the DUST beta has been, but it was still a proper beta.
Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood and Revelations didn't have proper betas. Release versions of both games included features that weren't in the beta, but none of those features were, in any rational way, related to the popular OR the intelligent feedback provided during either beta, and many seemed almost like they were custom-designed to go against what everyone wanted out of the game(s). |

Did you go over to speed test and ping test? (to check the basic functionality of your connection from you pc)
Are you wired or wireless? Wireless sucks.... especially, if you have an old router........just be mindful as the wireless / network device in the ps3 is just about 6 years old minimum now. Wired is the way to go as there is less chance for interference and packet loss.
You say you are only using one device (the ps3 to connect to the internet at the time), you may want to call up your isp and see if bridging the modem and router would work better.
Just so we are clear, there was a period last week that my ps3 decided to drop down to 6mb dl and 148KB ul when normally it is 20+mb dl and 2.10 mb ul. I was shooting in game and not getting kills and everyone seemed to be able to drop me at their leisure.
I reset everything, checked for firmware updates, had my isp -- ping and test the crud out of my modem. |

You might want to provide more info on your settings and post in the Tech Support Section if you can't get rid of the issue after undertaking some of the good advices posted above. The vast majority of lag issues are user network/installation related. |

Starhawks Beta ran for several months, November to March I believe...
And it was a REAL Beta and very similar to this one. As in people crying for nerfs all the time.
I got invited to the Private Beta December 17 if I remember correctly. |

Would network or connection settings cause DUST to freeze mid-match? This is the issues have been dealing with constantly since Chromosone. And I haven't heard many other players complain about it.
About 25 to 50% of my matches hard freeze my entire PS3. I have to resetthe system and restart the game. Oddly, when it happens, I can still hear and use voice ( no game sounds but voice chat is fine). But the game freezes midmatch and the PS button or other controller inputs won't function.
I have not experienced lag when this happens. Game is going smooth and fast and BAM frozen. I have posted on the forums and written to support@dust514 without results.
Is anyone else experiencing this? |

Have you noticed when something goes wrong, your PS3 always says, check your network connections.
It could never be the fault of Sony, or games you happen to be playing, even though it happens to you, and all your friends you happen to be in the same game with. It must be all their networks too.
lol. Yeah right, I'll get that looked at right away. |

Starhawk was a true beta. They put emphasizes on it being different from the "Demo beta" games that other games do. I was in the Private beta around in september and it went on for 6 months. |

The only time I get framerate anymore is on the 4 point map. It's not as crippling as it was in the previous build but that map always has framerate issues for me. |

I seem to be in an awkward position.
My connection is horrible, it really is, but almost every other FPS I've ever played has more network lag than Dust 514, which is saying something, since I played all of those on the computer which is directly connected to my internet via cable, whereas my PS3 is connected via wireless router. I'm actually impressed. |
