The new keyboard controls have you switching from wsad controls to the arrows, enter and backspace controls every time you open a menu ... even during a battle.
A keyboard player naturally uses E, R, left ctrl and spacebar which used to map to the 4 pad buttons in all but a couple of situations, one being the inertia dampeners triggered on spacebar (circle) instead of E (x).
I don't mind the 'show info' being up on F1 key, that's the same side of the keyboard and in reach, but having to use the 'right hand side' of the keyboard when your right hand is needed on the mouse is just bad design, sorry devs, but it's true, it just needs the mapping making clearer for new users rather than hidden in the options or forums and I don't mean on a random load screen, they need incorporating in the menu legend somehow. |

I can't imagine it would take that much effort that it would really be a hassle to implement it? I realize there may be other priorities, but custom keyboard mapping should definitely happen. |

Yeah I totally agree custom mapping would be far better, but it would require a whole ream of coding to set up the menu to accept assignments and then the game to use those assignments depending whether you're in battle or menus or vehicles etc.
I'm just asking to revert back to what it was before Chromosome until custom mapping can be implemented ... I'd even be happy if Tab didn't work for player list, so long as I didn't have to use the wrong side of the keyboard to select a fitting to spawn or orbital or vehicle deployment ... there's over 100 keys on a keyboard, with mouse in right hand what's wrong with the old mapping that used the "left hand" side of the keyboard for everything. |
