So far Dust 514 is the most promising shooter i have played this year, however i have been plagued by a few notable issues:
1) I cant seem to win any gunfight - Is this lag related because i live in Australia? I will literally empty 2-3+ clips into someone (usually when they are capturing objectives), with a prototype laser rifle/sub-machine gun and they still turn around and kill me. What makes it even more frustrating is that they lose only 1/4 of their shields (which defies my logic). It gets even worse when shooting moving targets because they seem to take no damage at all, although 40 hit markers clearly show up on my screen. Another notable issue I'm experiencing is that i get killed within .5 of a sec with full health, 2 x shield extenders and 2 x armor, usually by an exile or GEK assault rifle, don't even get time to react :P
2) The second and last issue i have is that no one spawns on my drop uplinks - Now yes i do put these uplinks in very appropriate areas which are close to objectives and are very hard to spawn camp/see, but no one seems to use them even though they would gain such a tactical advantage, so what gives there?
Thanks in advance for any answers

1.) Where you put your SP makes huge differences. I was REALLY struggling against guys I'd been smashing up for the last 4 months because I hadn't skilled some things which greatly increased my damage. There are Asian servers, but you could be getting thrown into other ones. Lag gets pretty ugly when your on funny servers, but it's improved so so so much from the old e3 days, when you could choose US/EU.
2.) get a corp. southern legion, kill em quick and restless spirits all have players down under. They'll use your uplinks. Bluedots are terribad as a general rule. |

Just stupid people. There is a significant chunk of the player base that apparently has no idea what they are or how to use them. I like to start matches with cheap uplink focused suits to establish forward positions, and about half the time they sit unused by everyone but me no matter how well I've placed them.
I'm also shocked at how rarely people toss them (and nanohives) down unprompted. Militia equipment = 100% free WP |

Hit detection problems come in hand depending on what server you are playing and against who aswell (like a EU guy plays against a US guy). Drop uplinks can only be used from the squad that you are in which is kinda stupid. If you are alone in your squad i would advise to move to a squad in the game that has 2 or 3 guys allready. They will then be aible to use your uplinks. But that goes only for ambush on skirmish you will barely get any spawns on it cause most of the players simply sit in the redline and start sniping. |

This isn't always the case, and as far as anyone can tell, it isn't meant to be the case.
Drop Uplinks appear to anyone in your squad on their first spawn, but don't even appear to other teammates unless they've been active in-mission and died already.
When a teammate chooses a non-default spawn location for their first spawn, the game auto-reverts them to the default spawn regardless of spawn selection. |

Also, OP, I've seen you in-game, and you did well when I was there.
I'm a Kiwi, so maybe you just got lucky with a less laggy match.
Hit detection issues have seen a rise according to quite a few players - I've had some intermittent trouble with it, but most of the time it's not too bad. If you're not hitting moving targets, but do fine when they're stationary, then it's ALMOST certainly lag, and you'll have to "lead" your shots a bit more (aim slightly ahead of the target). Because the game runs server-side hit detection instead of client-side (prevents aimbotting, lag-switching and other hacks from being as effective), you have to aim where the SERVER thinks the target is, instead of where your system sees them. With Laser Rifles, I find that aiming for the front edge of a moving body - still on the target, but ALMOST leading them - is the most effective when i can actually manage precision aim (I'm normally pretty bad at it though). Failing that, get the beam heated up then just sweep it back and forth across the target - it deals a surprising amount of damage that way if you do it right. |

If you're using laser rifles - Don't be close to them. You actually do less damage the closer you are, and more damage the further you are. Damage also increases the longer you fire.
SMG is a nice gun to complement the laser rifle if someone manages to get close to you :) |
