Seeing this more and more lately, particularly from Remancy1 and his Obscurus Arcanum corps - someone from another corps posts in local chat looking for new recruits and he replies saying to join his corps instead. This is not okay. If you did this on the forums the GMs would remove it and direct you to the forum rules. There may not be official 'rules' for local chat but the principles still stand - do not jump on other corps recruitment efforts. If you want to also recruit from local and someone else has already recently done a shoutout, maybe just wait a little while or at least be more discrete than say something along the lines of "Don't join them, join me!". |

If it's in local, that's perfectly acceptable. If that is all it takes to disrupt your effort get better recruiting tactics. |

I need to clarify my agreement. I beleive its wrong to basicaly slag of another corp recruiter while he's trying to get the same person you are. But its perfectly fine for people to lay out what thier corp can offer. So indirect competition for said recruit. No sabotage of the others effort. But its fine to try to recruit them yourself....ok im done now. |

Yeah, this is what I'm talking about. Just like if someone in this section of the forums posts "I'm looking for a corp" it is fine for several corps to try to recruit him but you will not see corps cussing out the others who have posted already. If your attempt at counter recruiting on local is following another corps' shoutout with "or you could join me" and only that, that is not cool.
And in the situations I'm talking about in my OP, there haven't even been people responding to the original shoutout - Remnancy1 just instantly jumps in an says "Join Obscurus Arcanum instead". This is simply lazy, rude recruitment vandalism.
Honestly, I don't think this kind of recruiting would ever really work anyway but that doesn't mean it's okay to try. |

I have mixed feelings. We're pretty much all recruiting in local, so we're going to be competing with each other. I have a problem with corps invading other corporations public chat channels and do the same thing... (attempting to) recruit for their Corp in the room they have drawn players to. That's not cool at all. Its happened to me a few times. I do agree with Mavado though about battling for bragging rights. If you've got personal beef with someone, that's how it should be handled. |

I honestly dislike Local Chat recruiting in general, but it does raise awareness so IDK.
I think that the solution to this does not lie in a code of honor, because the corps that hijack are already dishonorable.
I believe the solution is to have an in-game mail competition.
Players puts on local Chat: "looking for corp" <===That is wrong. They should put "looking for corp, mail me for recruitment"
Then the corps would put together a well-written letter with reasons to join their corp. That way, no corp knows of another corp that is recruiting that same person. Therefore, no other-corp slandering occurs, or should.
If it does, it's unlikely that the corp they slander will be relevant unless, lets say PFBHz puts out an Advertisement on the local channel. Now everyone knows that they are recruiting on the local, and would slander them in mail.
The shift of recruitment from Chat to Mail needs to occur to ensure professional and fair recruitment. That's my idea.
But that doesn't mean spamming it. I'm looking at you HunglikeaHorse. |

I had not thought of that before, that would solve so many problems. Perhaps you can get your idea to a member of ccp and make that mandatory perhaps? |

This is a valid issue, and I'm going to let you finish, but people changing the topic on forum threads is a much worse issue. |

Nah, CCP will let us do what we want. This just needs awareness, nothing more. Everyone should just use in-game mail more often, because Spammers can just be blocked and their message will never go through, so I find that it's a solution to most communication problems. |

I see nothing wrong with letting people know that there are other options for them to join. Whenever I see someone post one of there copy paste recruitment messages in local I make a point to always put out a Celtic Anarchy. rercuitment reply. cause personally i find it annoying when people do it... if you can't beat'em join'em |
