Railguns have taken a big hit with the NERF hammer, reduced damage and reduced range.Ok so they got a tiny buff from what can tell with the turn speed and crosshair but thats nothing in comparison.
Now i can understand the reduced damage they were pretty powerfull but the range??
I mean its a Railgun and a big one at that, did you never see the Transformers movie? the one with the Railgun on the ship that shot with pinpoint accuracy from the ocean to the pyramids. How can you justify reducing the range by what seems like half is just ridiculous.

They decreased spool time too, haven't you noticed how much faster you can fire now? Now you can get about 2 shots off in the time it used to take for you to get 1 shot off then wait for the CD to fire again. |

Yes I have noticed the reduced spool time however I prefered the longer spool time, it means i have to re-learn to time the shot again but its not a big deal |

Quick question: You're aware you can keep firing without needing to cool down, right? Hold the trigger and the weapon will stay charged and repeat-fire faster than if you release the trigger after each shot. |

I agree about the range. Rail guns, even today, have the potential to replace ICBMs as super long range weapons simply because of the cost reduction and rate of fire. With guided munitions railguns can be incredibly accurate and deadly from the other side of the world. I'm talking munition fired from the ground that GOES INTO ORBIT comes down and ruins someones day somewhere. A railgun hit from anywhere inside the current dust 514 maps should KILL INFANTRY instantly. Now I can understand them wanting to have a "sniper variant" and a "close range variant" for HAV turrets, for zoom/rate/charge up time of fire respectively, but the range on railguns should be uniform. Anyone who is spotted, and gives a tank long enough time to zone in on them and place their shot perfectly whether they are close, or on a mountain a few km away should die equally.
This being said, the area affected by the railguns should be limited(i mean the projectile hit itself) with splash damage offset with what type of railgun you are using (close range vs sniper)
Splash damage is ok where its at, it should do some damage, but not enough to kill a scout with less than 2 hits.
As for guided munitions, I feel with the setup listed above, it would be way to overpowered, unless they are planning on adding long range indirect fire on map artillery, in which case I feel guided munitions would be a nice touch.

That depends ont the Railgun you are using. |

+1. Rails should have plenty of weaknesses but range is not one of them. |

+1 nerfing the railguns range was a mistake, I feel tanks in general this build got hit with the nerf bat |

I also hope their range gets returned (if not buffed to a higher point than before) when maps get bigger. RL railguns have ridiculously long range. Dust railguns (even more so for small railguns) have ridiculously short range. |

Seems like you want to redline snipe a lot don't you?

The only thing that took a hard hit was the splash radius of the missiles. |

Really? Fancy that, didn't know I've only used a tank once or twice since the last reset just found it a waste of my SP and isk when more of the time I'm going to be running around on foot. Pumping dropsuits first then maybe I'll train Tanks, by then my shield/armour skills should be good too. |
