All the threads today have been MD are OP. Yea there has been a few others but these are the ones staying at the top. The best part though is that people are like man these things are way over powered. Then 3 hours later they are chiming into other thread saying that they are not.
You know who you are.
I am a MD user have been for a while and the extra rounds are OP you don't believe me then you have not been using for a while now. Like I stated I think that these extra rounds should be put into the operation skill of the weapon like the scramble pistol. Not given to you like we needed them, Just there if you want to get higher into the weapon. Also 5 would be plenty in a standard mass driver in CQC. You can blow them up everywhere and on anything and there is plenty to blow them up on. |

They kill just as easy as AR's or lasers. MD's shouldn't be the garbage they used to be. Extra rounds, maybe take it down a bit. I've been using since E3 first time they came in, prototyped them twice now, and also, just cause some people get kils doesn't mean they're OP. I've been killed 6 times total by them in the last 10 games. |

The aim knock when an MD hits you is incredible, I literally took my hands off the controller and gave one guy a free kill because my aim was thrown into the sky, the ground, anywhere but him. It was painful and I was not going to win anyways since I shot 90% of my rounds in the air from the explosions pushing my aim off.
I really think the aim shoving from the explosions of mass drivers need to be tuned back, its pointless to try and fight against it, when a half second later you are turned around facing the other way practically |

You have a point they should not be trash. But they start off great and they do feel amazing, maybe because I have good points into them now. My main point towards the MD was it was good before, no it was not god like the AR was but still good. Now it is pushing the edge pretty hard. I just wish it not to get to hard next update, and put up a way for it not to get hit to hard with ideas for making it better with skill not great off the bat. |

Post 5 and 6 are some ways to tweak the MD IMO without making them useless.
Edit- Also i agree the clip size probably should be reduced but keep the max ammo as is. Also im not sure if the capacity skills increase max ammo, clip size or both. But i think they only increase max ammo so skilling into a clip size is one way to go. Another is simply create a variant that allows for the current clip size at either the cost of total ammo, CPU/PG usage, dmg penalty etc something that would balance having the larger clip size while not penalizing MD's across the board. |

I agree somewhat, but only "nerf" should be shake reduction when being shot at by it. |

I think there should be a skill to give more ammo in the clip of all weapons. |

True but this kinda takes away from the distinction of the weapons. |

Im not sure, there are plenty of counters against them,
say a scout is running and jumping at you, most of the time it will take 2/3 shots to get him which will take a second or 2, where he can run up to you and insta pop you,
A heavy can soak up alot of MD shells and the skilled ones just laugh at the shake, i had a few 1 on 1 battles with Jack Boost yesterday, me with an MD and him in his amazing heavy fit and one on one he would always come out on top, the only times i got the better of him is when he was engaged with someone else and then he would retreat to reload/ repair and then i could get him from behind cover (cowardly or tactical you decide :P)
Long range fit, one thing i like about the mass driver is the rewarding feeling when you get that perfect arc and aim it perfectly and hit someone at distance, but there is a certain point they just disappear so any one with average AR skills or laser riffle or sniper has the advantage .
Where they are OP or where there place is, how ever you look at it is short-mid range where there are a bunch of people huddled in the corner and where you have a friend in a HMG to finish them off |

MDs were only weak because their projectiles had a tendency to not explode, and even when they did, it often wouldn't register. Now they seem to be working great, plus they have extra ammo, and without the AR dominance to subdue them, they're definitely one of the better weapons to be using right now. |

What amazes me is people crying "OP this OP that" 2 days after the new build landed Proper testing my ass.
Now regarding MDs, they dont insta-kill you. They're pretty tough to use at mid range requiring skill. Only problem is short range fights where MD user barely have to aim to deal heavy damage through emptying the clip.... wich is larger now. And i have the feeling that self inflicted damage arent very well registered.
Also, the lack of friendly fire push MD user to just spam around whether or not there are friendly around.
Finally, max skilled MDs can reach a blast radius over 10m if my memories are ok. This feels a bit too large imo. |

Okay,
I just got done telling my Corp. Mates how to defend against Mass Drivers, it's really not THAT hard. Goat, i'm assuming your really really good with a Mass Driver so you may have forgotten how hard they are to aim.
These are weapons that are difficult to aim in almost every situation. They are mainly used as suppression weapons and require you to unload about a fifth of your total capacity into an enemy to kill them unless you get lucky enough to land a body shot.
I may regret this but... Positioning is KEY when using and defending against Mass Drivers. If your parallel to a Mass Driver your in a neutral zone. Never be in a position where a Mass Driver is above you, that's how i get all my kills. Also Mass Drivers have Bullet travel time, a trait not shared with most other weapons in DUST 514 at Mid Range it's pretty difficult to get a shot off.
My advice, if your facing against a Mass Driver (at range), Start moving directly backwards (it's easier to hit a target heading forward than one backing up) and wait for the MD to fire. He has to aim at where your going and if your moving straight back he needs to fire straight, that's when you move to the left, when he fires at you again watch for it, and then move the opposite direction.
Fighting on a Slope is not good for mass drivers so if you see an Mass Driver parallel to you on a hill you have the upperhand
ABOVE ALL, Mass Drivers cannot aim straight up very well, if your in a position above a Mass Driver user then all they can do is aim right at the edge of the building or mound and hope for a spalsh shot. Which usually ends up not happening for them.
Mass Drivers are NOT easy weapons to use and require the user to be VERY mindful of his situation and surroundings. If you are being killed by a Mass Driver then your doing something wrong. again summery
-Never fight in close range unless you have an HMG, Shotgun, Mass Driver, Nova Knifes, Grenades, or excellent Assault Rifle hip-fire ability.
-Never fight at mid-close range on an open field.
-Don't use short strafes, and don't strafe in one direction because it's easy to adjust for.
-Never let a Mass Driver be above you.
-If a Mass Driver is above you, do not engage.
-If you are pinned behind cover, wait for the first shot to hit cover and then move, cover, move, cover, move. All Mass Drivers have a slow RoF.
THE MASS DRIVER IS NOT OP.
Keep the faith. |

Been saying Mass Drivers impact recoil has been a probably for a long time now even before this build. Finally people notice it now. Impact recoil needs to be adjusted. That is all it really needs. Everything else is fine on it. |
