I agree damge for sub machine gun starter is 21. The hmg standard is. 16.
The proto smg is 23.1
The proto HMG is 17.6
Most of my bullets miss with hmg. And more hit with smg.
I am starting to think they don't want the HMG in the game

SMG's fire pistol rounds, HMG's fire full size rounds. A SMG would have to make up for lower DPS with a corresponding advantage in RoF.

coming from a HMG user - I got a few less kills and a few more death with the new HMG but that could be because i haven't played in a month...
It did seem a little less powerful but still effective when you hit someone.

The proto Hmg took a hit it went from 19.2 To 17.6 for the proto HMG
The gastun HMG is now only 19.2
So yes there is a significant drop off.
The last build was the first time the Hmg felt good since replication.
It was too good to last. We must adapt again.

Last I looked HMG still cause people to melt. one of the main draw backs to the HMG is the rev up time. once you start shooting you need to commit to holding down the trigger until there are no more orange dots in font of you. entering a fire fight cold barel is a huge disadvantage.
400+ rounds in a mag and it only takes 20-40 hits to drop someone. don't be shy |

Second or third match I played on the new build, the classic 'heavy driving a LAV' was doing his rounds, effortlessly wasting people. And when he didn't get his way, he slowly waddled back to his comfy drivers seat and massive amount of health, and drove away. All the while being rained down on with bullets that only marginally hurt him.
HMG and heavies are doing just fine in this build. |

Okay, I've either gotten a massive case of Schizophrenia out of nowhere or maybe I'm just terrible at Dust 514..
Being on the receiving end of an HMG sucks. Unless you're running dead sprint perpendicular of the guy using it and he just happens to be a bad shot, you're going to die -every time-. Seriously, Heavies are brutal with these things.
A.) The reason the damage is lower than an SMG is because it's RoF is like 2000 and it has a massive magazine. There's room for error. The SMG? Not so much.
B.) In capable hands the HMG will win -every time-. I've seen guys using the HMG take out LAVs unassisted since the new build came out. Why they haven't been talking, I have no idea.
C.) A gun is only as good as it's handler.
I don't even have to use the HMGs to tell you that they're performing swimmingly and I honestly have no idea where all this talk is coming from. |

You're right, there is no way to get your barrel spinning with out firing. What I'm saying is that this weapon only becomes a threat when it get up to full RPM and not a second before that. this thing was ment to fire a continuous burst. |

After adapting to the changes to the HMG I find myself using the standard model more than any other
For 8,000"the standard is 16.HP damage. For 38,000 the MH-82 is only 16.8 HP damage Not enough difference to pay 30,000 more per gun for .8 difference.
So that leaves you the
For 70 AUr Broadside MH-82 17.6 HP damage. And 118,040 for the boundless heavy machine gun 17.6 HP damage.
A difference of 1.6 damage from standard to proto with a price tag of 110,000 more isk per gun.
I personally am using the standard cause I can't feel a huge difference.

I must say I have taken down some of the great heavies with my Exile and/or SMG. I started of this build testing heavies and I loved being a heavy. Heavies were feared. Now I just laugh at them.
HMGs need more love tbqh. I think a 10% buff in damage should be a must.
I have seen 2 HMG combos and a logi being absolutely devastating.
Heavies and HMGs should be feared. Just my 0.02 BUFFAFATMAN |

TBH, I've been using my stock militia assault fit with exile rifle, since it's now an effective fit against most players. (and it's 100% free)
With the minimal time I've spent using my standard type2 heavy suit with HM82, I definitely have noticed that it's weaker. I'll probably experiment with using the standard HMG, and running a complex dmg mod, instead of one of my complex shield extenders. It'll give me more dmg than the adv hmg does now, and it'll cost less isk per fit. Only down side, is the slight loss to shields, but 66 out of 1050 total HP shouldn't be too noticeable. |

I don't know what you people are on about I've only recently started using the heavy with a HMG, and I have no trouble putting down multiple assaults at once with it.
Key difference between the SMG and HMG is the amount of time you can fire and how accurately at different ranges, HMG is superior but the SMG makes a great back up weapon when the re-tarded blueberries refuse to drop nanohives. |
