Mass drivers never got a buff I've used it for months and it's still the same only reason why people think it got a buff is because of the recent ar changes |

Clip size only. Ammo is still scarce (at least for Exo-5 carried ammo count has not changed). |

The thing that helped was the clip size so we can kill a suit with out having to reload till take a lot of skill to use :-) |

Folks coming from CoD compare the MD to the grenade launcher of that game and automatically assume the MD is a skill less equivalent. It's human nature to assume anything that ever kills you that you aren't using yourself is OP. Combine the two and you find a lot of people assuming MD's are an easy button.
In truth it's not. The biggest difference between the MD and the CoD GL is that it's not a OHK. Turn a corner to meet someone with a GL and *Bam" you are dead. Do the same with a MD and you take one hit and gun him down. It's not a solo weapon because its low splash and low RoF put it at a distinct disadvantage to an AR.
The MD is a support weapon best used to soften up a group of red dots for your infantry to finish off. Engaging the enemy without support is a sure way to get gunned down before you can take anyone out. That's the first lesson you learn when picking up the MD. You might have some success if you toss a flux grenade first, but even then it's hit or miss.
The second thing you notice is that the MD announces your presence like no other weapon with the possible exception of the laser rifle. That loud explosion announces your presence and the huge smoking arc points right back to your location. Start launching a few rounds and watch every red dot swivel your way. It's best to launch from behind an infantry screen to prevent a quick death.
Third, the MD really takes time to master. You have to get a feel for the launch arc to land constant hits. The speed of the round is also quite slow, forcing you to predict an enemy's speed path more accurately. Getting hits at maximum range is a real art, unlike the ease of lining up a sight on a rifle.
All in all I rather enjoy the challenge of using the MD, but I don't think it is for everyone. If you are having trouble with the AR but you love to run solo I suggest the LR as a better alternative. If you aren't obsessed with your KDR and enjoy a support role then pick it up and give it a try. Just don't use it as a direct replacement for the AR because that's not going to work out very well. |

The biggest buff was fixing the dang clipping issues. (They still drop through the map at certain odd angles, but it's orders of magnitude better than the ol' 50% chance of exploding days.)
The MD + SMG combo seems to work really well if you don't mind skilling up two different classes of weapon. |
