Ok most of you are absolutely convinced I'm fulla BS... Here's a hint.
I absolutely am.
But on a less serious note, I continue with my new player experience diatribe with Logibros!
First note: repairs.
Absolutely badass. the remote rep guns I have access to suck, but thats because I'm a fecking newb. Other than the fact that militia gear is subpar, it's still easily the most useful piece of militia gear in the game IMHO. you won't keep the heavy's armor going against massed enemy fire, but giving a few moments with a damaged buddy who's not actively getting his butt kicked and he comes away fresh as a daisy. I think logi is going to be my favorite build hands down.
Second note: nanite injectors
revive the fallen logibuddies. These things are glorious if you can get to a fallen compadre and not get shot for more than ten seconds. after he gets up, swap to repair gun and he's back in the fight like he just spawned in. trick is, getting to someone without getting shot. Snipers tend to crosshair camp the fallen till they vaporize. Thank God for Shield extenders. This and the repair gun are mandatory for budding combat medics.
Third note: Mass Drivers.
My mass driver skills suck nads, but... the mass driver gives me a fighting chance even though i fail with dualshock controllers. I'll be swapping to mouse/keyboard combo ASAP. but nothing says "get the hell off me!" quite like a grenade launcher. For new would-be logibros, the mass driver is awesome. not getting caught by the enemy is more awesome. Logi suits are slightly less paper-thin than scout suits... but you ain't going toe to toe with an assault suit any time in the near future. By the way, use shield extenders. Shield tank shield tank shield tank. I cannot say this enough, and the veterans will probably agree. NEVER TRY TO ARMOR TANK THIS SUIT SET!!!!!!
Fourth note: sidearms
at this point given the effectiveness of the sidearms versus the enemy with assault rifles, sidearms are mostly a pointless waste of ISK. use grenades. they work better. I reserve judgement on sidearms though because I've only used militia grade. Someone else can comment here.
Fifth note: this isn't a combat suit, kiddies.
This note is mostly for the people for whom a grasp of the obvious is less than mine. If you're looking for a frontline painsoaking dropsuit go assault or heavy. this isn't a sniper suit simply because you'll get detected faster than any scout dropsuit.
Sixth note: Nanohives and droplinks
I haven't had any space for these as I'm in a militia logi for the nonce. I played medic, so I had injectors and rep tool. I want to run out with these as soon as I get a suit with more equipment slots. I look forward to being Utility Guy (superhero name).
As far as problems with logi my only complaint has been with something addressed in the patch notes. WP gains are difficult because your time as a logibro is better spent keeping your buddies alive, and reviving them as they fall if you are geared for medic. Since CCP is putting in a WP for repairs thing I reserve judgement and wait to comment till after a couple days in the next build. Hopefully the new mechanic isn't exploitable as I would love to see logibros not get cut off from warpoints.
Other logi builds:
I haven't screwed with remote explosives or hacker suits or any other such thing. I would hope someone can leave hints on how to do this for me. I'm enjoying the hell out of playing logistics, as much as i enjoy getting my ass shot off in the heavy suits. So far I like DUST.
So far it looks like my best bet for my playstyle. Logibros for the win. |

I'm stuck with standard PS3 controllers due to lack of funds. I can't do mouse + keyboard the way I learned to FPS. Run pretty much all of my posts through that mental filter and I'll start making a lot more sense.
Grenades are pretty much the only way I get kills when I can't employ a primary weapon. |

i'm still using the militia logi suit man. said so in my post. i'll revise my BS story as I advance in skills and equipment. I'm mostly making commentary on the new player experience, because that is where I am now. thus farn the new player bit for the logistics has been a lot more entertaining than say trying to go heavy as a new player. I won't even screw with assault until such time as i can mouse/keyboard.
There's a reason why I call my threads things like Breakin Stuff's Fail LOLympics. |

then show me fits I can test that do better please. I'm trying to be constructive, and i'd like advice on how to do this better.
I know how to fit an EVE ship but i fount out early on fitting a dropsuit exactly the way you'd fit a frig is a surefire way to get slaughtered. Only been playing a week or two so fitting advice to make the equipment perform better is always welcome. |

Oh yeah, side note:
Logibros should think of their teammates as their primary weapons. Things like mass drivers are at best a stopgap, and no substitute for having two heavies or a pack of assaults to draw fire and dish pain while you keep them running.
A logibro's primary attack weapon is his team. Just like in EVE a logi's primary weapon is the HACs/battlecruisers and battleships he's keeping online. as long as they're alive and shooting yer in a good place. having two logis on a team, whether it's a gang/fleet or in a DUST squad reinforces everyone's survivability by an order of magnitude. |

Garrett Blacknova wrote:If you specifically kit out a Militia Logi suit as a dual-tanked combat fitting (or run Armour Reppers and Shield Extenders), it CAN be a combat suit. It requires a different approach to both fitting and combat, but it works. Just like a lot of people say Heavies can't be snipers, but in the right hands, it's a really tough fitting to go up against.
the idea that heavies cant be snipers is a chuckler. takes a bit more thought, but It's doable. i won't do it myself, but that's more because if i use heavy it mostly means i'm hunting for vehicles, not looking for infantry kills. |

oh damn, yer better than I am with the scrambler pistol *applause*
it means you're better with a scrambler pistol.
my point is I'm not a console gamer. I'm still getting used to the controls.
And the militia scrambler (which is what I was commenting on) still sucks. i'm running under the assumption that, like with everything else, the non-militia scramblers are worth more than LULz and not as much a waste of ISK. My point that locus grenades are better than that particular weapon stands. |

Only been playing a week or two so fitting advice to make the equipment perform better is always welcome. Forget the rule of the dumbest thing to do in eve, dual tank whenever pg/cpu allows, armor repairers are essential, equipment is a bit like ewar mods such as neuts and sensor dampers, meaning they're mainly for specific scenarios but always having them would be preferable
makes sense.
right now running two militia extenders and an armor rep in high and low. mass driver (cheapest one) in main weapon, militia scrambler in sidearm in case i run out of options and need to shoot myself. locus grenades, repair tool and nanite injector for my current militia logi suit fit.
Mostly I just focus on keeping people alive and frantically shoot the mass driver when reds get too close and try to keep the blueberries up. i only bother trying to hack things when there's no reds on my radar. seems to work out.
i think some people have mistaken some of my comments for bitching. Like my comment on the scrambler pistol. More accurate assessment of the situation would be i'm a suckass shot. I'll cop to that. |

so far, yeah. The logi militia suit has a sidearm slot. I can't speak for a more advanced suit. haven't been able to get the minmatar logi suit skill yet so I can't make an accurate comment on anything but the beginner stuff.
Still think logi is the most fun. |

what level mass driver do you need for the assault version and how much ISK does it cost?
Right now i'm primarily concentrating on getting to the minmatar logi suits. and getting electronics/engineering maxed for fitting ease over weapons, but if it's not higher than 3 i might go for it.
sidearm skills are lowpriority. |

Vermaak Kuvakei wrote:Level 2 and the standard scram is the best for you using what I know to assess your capabilities
i'll be more effective with point fire weapons once I'm able to get a mouse/keyboard or once I get used to the controllers that come with the PS3. Right now I don't have any complaints about how hard the scram pistol hits. but my usual experience is trying hard to hit someone running fast at you bouncing like a five year old on a caffeine rush. I've gotten all of my non-primary weapon kills with 'nades. except one today. i hit him three times with a scram after I splashed him with two locus grenades while running the cheapass antivehicle standard fit. |

Still think logi is the most fun. Militia Logistics suit has only one weapon slot, for a Light weapon. You can equip a Sidearm instead, but you can't equip two weapons. Are you sure that's a Militia Logistics suit you're running, and not something else?
its entirely probable i'm mixing up my suit layouts. i dont have them memorized. yet. |
