I request a swarm launcher officer variation, it is the only weapon without one. I also need my swarms to be able to lock on unhacked installations, depots, and CRUs. It will also be very useful if I had the option of choosing which direction the swarms travel right after firing them, many times they travel in the wrong direction and hit the walls around me. |

Yeah well swarms do as swarms do, the lesson you have to take away when that happens is, lock on, point barrel up or to the side (away from the walls) quickly before you lose lock then fire the missiles will then fly right hopefully unless you're in a small area with walls all around then you may need to relocate =p and really why would you want to lock onto unhacked things? blowing up installations that could potentially benefit your team before they are given a chance to take them and use them just seems selfish to me. Eg heavies can't deploy nano hives and often run to supply depots but if you blow them all up they have to rely on finding someone who has dropped a hive when you're together with the team great someone may drop one when you're alone and need ammo you have no bearing on where to go to get ammo. |

My clone is dedicated to AV, I have swarm launchers on every fitting I have, and have been running with them since august. I can safely say that I know how to use swarms better than any other weapon in the game. I rank 14 on the war points leader boards (was number 5 before I took a three week business trip) not because of my kills, I got less kills than the guy ranking 70, but I am up there because of how many LAVs HAVs and drop ships I wreck. all this intro to let you know I am not a swarmer noob who doesn't know what he is talking about.
It doesn't matter where you point your launcher after locking on, swarms will take a certain path before flying directly towards the target. I am still baffled by the mechanics of the swarms, let's say am standing in an entirely open area with one wall on my left, I lock on, point the launcher up, release, and they fly right into the wall. why not let me manually choose the direction of the initial flight? Don't tell me relocate when the tank is in my face with half armor left :).
About locking into unhacked assets....I have always complained about tanks destroying supply depots and hurting their team. I would understand if they would destroy the ones closer to the enemy's mcc, but not the one closer to their mcc. so I am not talking about that. What am talking about is destroying enemy side installations before they're hacked. Forge guns can do it, railguns and blasters can do it, why can't swarms?I was able to do it in the pre codex build when swarms had dumb fire, but not anymore since dumb fire was mysteriously removed. |
