so i was playing ambush and my team got A$$raped by spawn campers who used the hacked drop uplink. that is tiring and needs to be fixed. and there needs to be some kind of sorter which sorts newbs (like me ) from the pros. so newbs can actually gain some experience and sp and isk to buy some weapons. |

Just out of curiosity, how did you know it was the hacked drop uplink?
Anyway, I've seen way too much bad matchmaking today. Most of the battles this morning had 2 or 3 premade squads on one side (judging by corps), and pure randoms on the other (again, judging by corps) |

Sometimes cheap players will camp drop uplinks instead of destroy them. Sorry, that's how grimey players play. There are no rules agains it but it is unsportsmanlike. The spawn camping has been much worse in past builds. It's not nearly as bad as it once was. |

It was worse for me, it seems that the other team was spread out in all the random spawn spots, that no matter what default spawn i was dropped into there were two players waiting to light me up. Nothing like instadeath the second i spawn in no matter where i drop in.
But camping spawn locations is nothing new in tdm games, eventually someone will figure out how to stop it. Perhaps spawn invicibility for a set period of time unless the player opens fire might be a possible way to limit the abuse but doubt it will happen and more likely the campers will just sit a little further back is all. |

it has already been mentioned that the spawning is horrible and needs to be adressed. As for camping uplinks...oh yeah I do that for a min or so, is it cheap, yup, is cheap smart, most of the time. There is no such thing as honor in combat, you have winners and losers, no matter how cheaply you win, you still win, and it is my understanding that is a core principle in EVE |

To be honest, I won't go out of my way to destroy a drop uplink if i'm already holed up into a good position. Besides, I'd rather keep the enemy waiting at the spawn screen.
The random spawning in ambush mode is ****ed though, that's true enough. We can only hope for the best next build. |

there's consequences for dropping a spawn uplink in an obvious area. There isn't anything cheap about it. If you are getting spawn killed off of an uplink simply don't spawn there. |

agreed, on the Communications ambush map, biomass map and the orbital artillery map, if i see the enemy taking the CRU i will always head that way for kills.
You dont have to spawn there, if you look at the map and see people instantly dying next to the location you are spawning then its not a good idea to go there. |

It's REALLY easy to see when an uplink is being spawned.
I usually keep an eye out for it on mine, even though I'm good at putting them in well-hidden (or easily-protected) positions. When someone's camping my uplink, it's time to spawn elsewhere and set a new one. |

This is what anyone dropping an uplink should do. I certainly do. (and if someone on the other side doesn't I'll camp it till they do) |

Betamax is pretty bad about it. On one occasion I had seen some Heavies from Betamax sitting on a CRU and lighting up anyone who spawned at it. I joined in for a while but then morality struck and I decided to capture it, with which they just 'bumped' me off the hack in order to cancel it out. Eventually just left and put it out of my mind.

Agree with both posts. I try to place links in sheltered locations, but their are a few choice spots on each map that smart players will check. If one of my links gets overrun I throw down an alternate as soon as possible to prevent players from spawning on it. You would think people would be able to tell the spawn was overrun but apparently not. I would like to see some type of game mechanic where the spawn point functions as a sensor and will identify nearby enemy players and display them on the minimap. This is not an unreasonable request and the sensor radius could be limited to a small area. |

I spawm camp proudly - why? Whose really the troll - the guy taking advantage of you spawning in front of him ... or you whose spawning in front of him? The point of uplinks is to give one side an advantage - why shouldn't a badly placed one lead to the opposite? Skill baby, skill, anything that promotes thinking is positive in my book.

It's never that simplistic. If it were, i wouldn't die against a militia AR with a Duvolle in my hands, but it sure happens. I, like many others, have a GEK equipped in a few fittings and while i feel the extra power, it isn't just that that enters the equation when facing other people in battle. I rarely feel like i lost a confrontation just because of gun stats. Although i can run with GEKs or Duvolles, my two most used fittings have a standard AR (now Exile) and i never feel like i'm underpowered. |

When there is a CRU on ambush i allways use a drop uplink close to its position, let the enemy hack the CRU, pull out my shotgun and have some happy time to get tons of kills with my cheap fit. After all it doesnt matter if you have a proto suit or not a shotgun in the back is allways a granted death. So yes im a CRU spawn camper and i use very dirty tactics but hey its ambush and the objective is to deplete the enemy clone reserves as fast as possible. So i dont see a reason to not do it. After all when it comes down to ISK there is no fairness on this game. Well you have allways the option to not spawn on the CRU. If you see nobody on your team next to that thing avoid it and dont use that spawn location. Or how the Eve players would say: New Eden is not a fair place |

I've also seen Heavies who could tank at least my first 2 shots and keep going.
And while it hasn't happened in Chromosome yet, hit detection issues have cheated me out of Shotgun spawn kills in Codex a few times. |

get used to camped droplink it's only going to get worse when game goes live, you'll be paid to win a planet not duel like some gentlemen for primitive redundancies such as honor.
you can see if a droplink is camped by zooming in on it- see those little black things that look like ants? those are actually unmarked enemy infantry, and if there swarming around your droplink- that means it's camped.
get in a squad get on the mic, chances are someone else will do the droplink report for you. stop asking for ppl to play nice. dont spawn on the camped link with your best suit. play smart, teamwork, and win. |

It's cheap and grimey play but it offers free kills so cheap players will camp an uplink rather than destroy it; "obvious area" or not. Cheap play is found in perhaps all multiplayer games but those that enjoy those tactics will not likely complain about it. |
