My understanding is that "highsec" "lowsec" terminology is from EVE, and stands for "High Security" or "Low Security" (there's more, but 2 is fine for now). HighSec is an area where if you do something wrong, the e-five-o come and shoot you.
I find it strange that the terms are used in DUST, and used in a slightly different way than in EVE. Unless it's PVE or something, I really don't see random NPCs entering a game to kill a player. The point of FPS games is to kill other players, and it seems like the "high sec" areas were made to prevent or reduce the number of players killing each other.
The Devs have been creative in coming up with names for things, so can we have some new names for zones that apply to DUST if they are implemented? We do have the "red line", but that's kind of different. It makes sense that there will be a change to the queue system, so team balance is more even, and the Devs have made comments before about adding maps where vehicles cannot be used. I would love it if there were new names for the noobie players other than "lowsec". |

High-Sec = Cops holding your hands while you retrofit training wheels on your ship or LAV.
Low-Sec = No cops, but still part of empire space. The only protection available are automated guns that can be tanked and penalties imposed which aren't that bad.
Null-Sec/0.0/Outlaw Space = Gangland controlled by mafia-like organizations.
Wormhole Space = Think of Mad Max's Road Warrior.
NOTE: Even high-sec space is not 100% safe. It's the safest there is, but it doesn't grant 100% immunity. If someone doesn't like you, they will figure out how to get you regardless of the cost. |

If someone doesn't like you, they will figure out how to get you regardless of the cost. high sec space isn't even safe. it's safer but not by much. war decs cancels out everything, if you participate in faction warfare you aren't safe. if you fly in something stupid expensive and weak you aren't safe.
if you gank too much you aren't safe.
now if you steal something you aren't safe, if you get a high enough bounty making your death worth more to ganks making it not safe.
there are many paths to choose being smart is the only way to be safe. i don't understand why people think there should be a difference between null sec and high sec on faction warfare that is dust when it's not different at all in eve. |
