How are they gained, where can I see the amount, what do I spend them for? What tactics are good? |

1. Kill, Revive, or Hack during a battle.
2. At the end of the battle during the "Results" screen. You can also see your Lifetime WP on your Character Sheet.
3. You don't really "Spend" them but you can use them in a battle to summon Orbital Strikes.
4. Not sure. |

@Free Healing has is covered but I thought I would add to #4. Do Not Die.
The best rewards for me are getting into a match when it starts and trying to get some early hacks in. Then to defend either a null cannon or a supply depot. And not doing the death dance.
Do as I say, not as I do. 'Cause I am not very good at not dying and I will toss the low cost suits at trying to just light up the other team with my fire. Sometimes the distraction is enough to get the heavy to take them out or make the red dot slow up. I am older school so kill/death ratios don't matter to me nearly as much as winning a match. Once we are out of Beta that might change. |

Lol the "Distraction" play is actually one of my favorite tactics
For some reason though i'm always the one that ends up as bait... but i digress.
I was thinking about a couple of ways that were good to earn WP and something my good friend Overlord keeps yelling at me about is Drop Uplinks. If you manage to find a good and useful place for them where people or squadmates can spawn safely you can rack up WP fairly quickly.
Another way is to make sure you are/have a good Squad Leader that is giving Squad Commands on a regular basis for the added 10% WP gain. If your SL is NOT giving Squad Commands you need to reminds him
Use a Tank. Pretty cut and dry there.
Use Remote Explosives to blow up CRU's and Installations.
Revive fallen comrades safely with Nanite Injectors (easy 60 WP) if they don't bleed out as soon as they're shot.
That's all for now,
Keep the Faith. |

This Dev blog has the answers you are seeking. http://www.dust514.com/news/blog/2012/12/war-and-profit/
War Points are simply in indication of the contribution you've made to the battle you are in (or generally if you're looking at lifetime stats via the character sheet).
While you don't spend war points they are involved in the calculations which award you both Skill Points and ISK at the end of a round and both of those are things you spend to develop.
Death isn't really a big deal in Dust, but loss of gear is. So never deploy in anything you can't replace and when things get rough switch to cheaper or free suits to save on cost. Ultimately it's not a question of how you spend your resources so much as a question of gain. If you gain more during a match than you spent you're coming out ahead and that's what you want to be doing.
As to spending skill points, start with the support skills that effect many things (like Weaponery, Mechanics or Shields) and work inward as you select a specialization to develop.
