Ive been gaming sense the atari 2600 and this is the first online shooter ive ever played(been playing since September so only a few months). Since i started playing dust ive tried a bunch of other online shooters, APB, Aliance of valiant arms, planetside 2 and recently ive tried black ops 2 to name a few..I liked planetside 2 but hated black ops 2 the others are a big mehh IMO.... Ive been a long time RPG fan and maybe thats why i prefer dust over the other shooters ive played...
my k/d ratio when i statrted was a horrible .52 but ive improved recently and raised that into the.80s k/d so i am improving...Anyways what i love about dust is the the ability to build a character however you wish..right now ive been putting my SP into swarm launchers and assault rifles and in the future i want to try the mass driver, forge guns(my favorite thing to do in dust besides killing people with the blaster pistol is blowing up tanks) and Logistics because i love those guys when im on the battlefield..
ive gone solo the entire time ive played so ive bought a mic and look forward to teaming up with some others in the future... my corporation doesnt seem to be very active(when i check the corporate chat im often the only one online)..
Anyways any advise would be appreciated because i know im not the only noob to this game and this game is pretty brutal on newbies like me...
The occasional lag sucks but overall i love this game and look forward to see it improve as the game evolves...Anyways thanks CCP and keep up the good work....

SKill needed to be effective for weapons from lowest to highest (Imo)

Excellent post. Alot of us have been playing for at least 9 months, sometimes more and we get jaded. We have gone from not being able to squad together, to having squads but no corporations etc. So we lose sight of the "newness" of this to people when they first get in it.
When I first got into beta it was Craterlake build and basically a Rush format of kill A & B then move onto capping C, D, E and holding them if you were able to kill A, B in time. Great map. And I was awed by the game, even though I had been playing BF3 (loved it) and MW2. The game was fresh and addicting, while not fresh anymore is still strangely addictive.
Keep working at it, it takes awhile to get the hang of it but it's worth it. There are alot of threads with tips about how to play when you are new. Welcome to the game and tell your friends about it, have faith.

The character building is what I return for also. DUST imo has the most role customization of any online FPS. |

Ditto. There is no FPS on PS3 that has this level of customization. They are building a deep FPS, I just wish they would accelerate the process. But I'd like CCP to put out a polished product, rather than rushing out something half-as s to pacify me. |

Good to hear a green horns opinion. Look to join an active corp. Running with numbers greatly improves the fun scale.

In the future if you want to AV...be anti vehicle do not spec into assault rifles. Learn how to use sidearms be it smg or pistols which it looks like we have a new pistol coming and a new option for av. I personally use pistols because of the range that you can eventually get with them, smgs took a hit this build with reduced dmg from skills but still a cqc option as a sidearm. |

Yes microphone is important, and its easy, almost everyone have a bluethoot to a cellphone, and you can use that, no reason to run to a shop and buy some special gear, works fine for my teammates, I bought the ps3 headseat its great, but not a must.
If there is folks in lokal with a mic we always invite if we have free spots in squad.
