its been many months since i last played, last time was either sometime in July or August. i had stopped for awhile because i got tired of the game refusing to transmit my mic. so i was unable to communicate with people. i did send a report and got a generic turn your voice chat on reply (it was turned on).
but thats not why i'm posting, i'm posting because i'm now royally confused.
first my character is still there... they didn't wipe characters in 5 months O.o? my sp is goofy thou and when i selected my character there was an option for suspended sp or something? what is this?
player rooms are different now. which i think is cool but when the character loaded into it, its was really low resolution, were in the intro vid showed a very high resolution room.
what changes have been made? planetary and space fighters added yet? gun ships? when i shoot someone and see the hit marker pop do i actually deal damage? have gun been rebalanced to a high skill assault rifle doesn't 2 bullet ko someone and a militia one doesn't take 3 clips to kill a scout suit. (thou that's probably more on the side of dealing hits that do no damage.) has the draw distance and map borders been fixed so a drop ship can't fly out of sight and bombard the ground anymore? whats changed in 5 months? |

Reading the patch notes would get you all the answers you are after but seeing as I'm feeling generous I'll give you a few for free.
Let's see, last wipe was when they deployed this build 'codex' maybe 7 weeks ago. Hit detection is a lot better and the game is more tactical now and less ballerina dancing (much to the dismay of some people).
Drop ships no longer go invisible at long ranges and they added a very low max height flight ceiling too. Missiles have been nerfed and are almost non-existant in the game. |

ok servers back up. thank you for.. kinda answering stuff.
ok i see its listed as passive sp, i'm guessing this means its like eve were only 1 of your characters will develop skill points while your not playing.
edit: and i start loading my character and it says game data corrupted... joy... |

Yep that's what the passive is. Also there is a skill cap of roughly 150-200k sp per character per week. It resets every Tuesday downtime I think. They've also added diminishing returns on SP when you get closer to the cap. |

I think what Musta is meaning to say is this:
There is "Passive SP" available for ONE of your 3 characters. It's 1000SP per hour. You can do the rest of the math.
Active SP gains are capped. It was about 500k for a while, but recently seems to have dropped to somewhere around 300k. Nobody's really talked about this and I'm kind of assuming either nobody else keeps track of their gains as thoroughly as I do for my databases OR, more likely, people have just gotten used to CCP changing stuff without telling us, especially things that are likely to agitate the player base.
Not speaking negatively of CCP. They're doing a rather good job of listening to the player base and moving some things in the directions players want them to go, but occasionally they just come up with their own idea out of the blue and implement it without user-base communication.

There's also a couple changes regarding boosters if you employ those. The Active booster (change pending) is going to raise the SP cap for active gains. The Passive booster (added since you've been gone) gives a 50% bonus to the passive PS gain rate.
Also there's currently an event discounting AUR gear so expect to see a lot more of that on the field for awhile. |
