One of the more interesting things to me about this whole discussion over iron sights on guns to improve "immersion" is that this is really one of the only arguments for their inclusion. By that logic, shouldn't boarding animations for vehicles have similar support?
I know I can't be the only person that has chased down an enemy player and dropped him into low armor only to have him tap Circle as a friendly HAV rolls by and disappear to safety, sometimes followed by a missile to the face (pre-nerf). Of, for another example, that person speeding around the map in a Militia LAV trying to run people over who hits Circle as soon as they miss you and one-shots you with a shotgun after popping out of a fast moving vehicle with none of its inertia, something that is now factored into drops from aircraft, I might add.
Animations for boarding vehicles not only lend themselves to greater immersion, they also lend themselves to better, more skillful gameplay with less ways to hold up people who can't hold their own without relying on such tactics. |

Good point, I hadn't even thought to mention that. |

Good point, I hadn't even thought to mention that. I will never forget something that always gets me killed. True enough. |

Captain-Awesome wrote:actually a very good idea lol, it slows down the game play sadly but it is something that makes sense - it shouldn't take rediculously long, (2 seconds lav, 3 seconds hav/dropship) at most but those 2-3 seconds really make a difference. not only to offence but to the immersion too - it also stops (for the most part) silly seat switching. Exactly. I don't think any of us want to see ridiculous start-up sequences like those mechs in Lost Planet 2.

Some times you need to bail from a moving vehicle and I wouldnt want to have to take off a seat belt first. Like Captain-Awesome was saying, there's no need to make the animation too long, and you would still be able to bail out of a vehicle, but not instantly and with no inertia maintained from the speed of the vehicle. |

As it is its fine, i rarely see ppl jump into a moving vehicle as it is I see that quite frequently, and have even taken advantage of it myself on multiple occasions. As well, I'm sure we're all familiar with how some of our Heavy wearers use free LAVs as a means to jump into fights with their HMG by just bailing out without stopping. To be fair, you should really inherit the vehicle's inertia when doing this, and possibly even take damage from the bailout. |

So yes I'm all for it :) As a matter of fact, why not have the user have to hold circle throughout the animation, and it cancels if they release? That way you can stop and defend yourself if someone starts shooting rather than just dying with your ass halfway out of your tank hatch. |

Why should they take damage from getting out of a vehicle thats in motion? Hell... Why do we take damage when we fall 10 ft? Also.. It should take less animation time to get out of a LAV than if you are entering imo. Agreed. |
