Seriously - I hate myself every time I land a kill at a moderate/long distance target when I honestly should not have seen them... That black silhouette stands out like a freaggin light bulb...
Just thought I'd throw it out there to anyone I kill that honestly should not have been noticed... M'bad mates. |

I don't think it's intentional. It's a problem with the shadow/light rendering of the avatar that causes a sharp contrast with the fog and distant terrain. CCP should really address this as this problem renders profile dampeners absolutely useless. |

I doubt it will be truly fixed until they start working on the graphics. Currently I think that gameplay is the primary focus, and later this spring they'll be adding more graphical elements and optimizing things. |

That's the problem.
Even if you are good, the rendering issue in the graphics will make you stand out like a 50-foot Christmas tree in the middle of the night in Washington DC. I would know because I specialize in sneak attacks and infiltration deep within not only enemy red zones but also behind mountains and hills. I still get spotted by snipers that are all the way across the map while I'm at the opposite extreme of the maps.
Please keep in mind that I use profile dampeners, an advanced scout suit, have dropsuit command level 5, and profile dampening level 3. |

I havr also noticed the silhouette in the distance. I figured it was a shadowing issue as well. It does stand out like a hooker in church though. |

Id have to say that the sillotee is too noticable too it seems to be something where the character is ontop of the layer of fog and other effects in game rather than other way around |

Hmm. I may be wrong but I think there was distance fog effect before. |

Actually the E3 build was what had the draw distance problem. The visual models became invisible after a set distance. Precursor enabled models to show across the map and seemed alright back them. Unfortunately the codex build that we have now messed it up. |

I've found this only happens at extreme range for me but then again I'll look over and see someone standing next to said silhouette and they'll be rendered properly almost invisible against the background so I have no clue whats going on but it does tend to draw alot of undue attention especially to me when I'm sniping unfortunately -_- |

Might be just a hunch but it sounds like the antistropic filtering isn't agreeing with the rendering process.
Dust 514 could probably benefit from it, even if it isn't the problem. Should probably make it to where there's -less- antistropic filtering whenever you pull the trigger on your gun. Sort of like what Left 4 Dead did whenever the director turned on the horde mode. |

I think it's just a game bug. It seems like the avatar is being rendered in a layer that is positioned in front of the fog.
It doesn't look great, but I'm not sure whether it's actually intentional, just not to the degree it is at the minute. |
