          Simple. Think of it like a game of Battleship. The map has a grid system with vertical (columns) reading alphabetically and horizontal (rows) reading numerically.
  Alternatively you could go a bit more advanced (and likewise more accurate) Hexagon Grid which is entirely numerical as seen in this picture I found on google: http://www.codeproject.com/KB/graphics/hexagonal_part1/hex_array.jpg
  So, for example, if a Squad Leader see's a tank but can't identify it on the map with an icon (the filled in diamond which represents an HAV) he can simply call out "Grid 2-5" and his squad will know where to find it.

          I would like a grid system. I really like the hex one, but would new players get confused by it? +1 Maybe the hex one could be tested to see if random blue people can figure it out, and replace with normal grid if they can't figure it out. |

  Tutorial explaining the 'y' and 'x' axis would be simple. A paragraph of script could get it out of the way in a hurry, hell, one of the loading screens could explain it well enough. |

  This is because the request had been made sometime back and CCP is adding it to the game. The added grid to the Pics is to show that it is planned
