Just thought I'd remind CCP of this suggestion. I would seriously be much more inclinded to use dropships if I could go around airbombing teammates onto the capture points... you know... like a dropship!
Who else would like to see this?
EDIT: Perhaps a better alternative would be to have a button that sends a "Please exit vehicle now" message to these passengers, so that they are not necessarily forced out, but they know when the pilot thinks they're in a good spot. Would that be better? Just seems like they should act like dropships, not gunships...
Which of these would be better? |

In that case, regrettably unicorns do not and can not exist in the same universe as my willpower. That being said, no. I was directing that towards the idea of being ridiculously ejected from a dropship or HAV at random. |

To be clear, I'm refering to ejecting the four useless non-gunners from the simultaineously instead of the randomly poping out on their own. This way dropships could reliably hover over an attack point and drop troops.
Perhaps a better alternative would be to have a button that sends a "Please exit vehicle now" message to these passengers, so that they are not necessarily forced out, but they know when the pilot thinks they're in a good spot. no, they really wouldn't. Mics are extremely inefficient for this sort of thing. Once we have larger engagements with multiple dropships transporting multiple squads to multiple drop points, having multiple dropship pilots simultaneously attempting to give verbal jump orders on the same voice channel will be a complete clusterF.
Furthermore, it would require everyone to be in Team, thus rendering Squad a useless channel. |

It's kind of funny to listen to rants of "Dropships aren't gunships, they are for transport!", followed by arguments against any tweak that would make them useful for transport.
Look, nobody is forcing you into a dropship. You can read the pilots name and corp and may always decline an offer of a lift. There is always some risk, and jumping on board for an objective assault entails some. However running over open ground is already risky, and your own team mates may be hunting you in LAV's just for giggles.
Using dropships for transport in pub games would increase tactical options and make them more fun for all. |

Yeah, I always thought they were supposed to fill both roles. |

I agree with OP add an eject to HAV's too. That has been already asked for, but for different reasons. There so squad supporting the HAV can get back in once random take their seats.
As for the dropship, if you've been ejected into the redline why would you go in again? Once a troll pilot gets seen, then word will get around and they'll be ignored. However, for valid ejections it gives power into pilots hands. Get as close as your willing to target objective while under fire, eject and keep momentum up to escape, but troops transported. |

Honestly I think this idea is on the right track.
Maybe have an option where the pilot can request the passenger's to deploy? Too often Dropships get passengers that never deploy, making them a waste, treating Dropship's as a safehouse the whole match. |

I don't quite understand people fretting about being deployed "next to the enemy" when I see them running over open ground to do the same. Would you rather get cut down running from A to B five times or get dropped right on the Null cannon? In the first case you are likely alone and in the second you have 4-6 team mates to assist you and take the heat off.
As a pilot I really want to know what you would prefer. So tell me. |

Good idea, I added this second option to the OP |
