So what I'm going to tell you happened 4 times to me. I have the Sony Stereo Headset and I put the sound a tiny bit below the middle. I can hear pretty much everything very clearly, until we get to vehicles. I noticed that by the time I hear a vehicle, its already too late. They can be a meter behind me and they sound like they are 50m away from me. By the time I turn around to see the vehicle I'm already run over. I never had this experience in other games, I could tell the distance intuitively without a problem. But in this game even tho they are near me they sound far away. My suggestion is to just boost the vehicle sound. |

EnglishSnake wrote:You must be deaf tbh then Right, because hearing footsteps from far away while not hearing a vehicle going to crush you is deaf. In BF3 I can hear people reload im the middle of a gunfight, I can hear a vehicle from a kilometer away. Dust has some issues with sound design. |

Was there a change to sounds recently? I've never had a problem hearing vehicles coming. |

Vehicles are weird as far as sound.
When you're in one, they're pretty loud, but outside of one they're silent. |

You are not the only one running into this problem. I have had similar situations happen to me over the last couple of weeks.. There is nothing more surprising and underwear twisting than getting ran over by a 30 ton tank that seems to have come out of nowhere. The vehicle sounds have become distorted in respect to distance of vehicle in correlation to the volume of the vehicle when heard by a ground based character. I swear I can hear a LAV better a farther distances while when they approach me from a short distance its like they are a Prius. |

Oooohhh yeah I've had this problem so many times just today I was almost run over by a LAV only dodged because I was running under a building and I saw the area around me start to light up from the headlights, and even more baffling I was running along went to dodge a sniper trying to pin me down so I turn around to run for cover and there's a tank I absolutely did not hear a few scant yards behind me it's barrel almost touching me and of course it blasted me to hell at that point. But yeah I fully support making vehicles have louder noises like lots louder |

So there I was, at the battle of Manus Peak. We had just taken Objective C, A & B were in enemy hands. We needed to make a counter push. The virus finally loads into C. "about time" I mumble to myself as I do a quick scan to make sure there's no enemies coming to take it back. All clear. The guys who had taken C starts moving. I swing wide to the West to sweep around the tower. All clear. I get back to the road, looking both ways as the Drill Instructor taught, all clear. I sprint across the road to reduce being out in the open, a sniper round snaps past me, "damnit" I think to myself as I get to cover and check my shields. They're still at 100%, I sigh in relief as I scan for the sniper and other enemies. All clear. I start moving towards the buildings below B... Then it hit's me... A DAMN LAV HITS ME! "Where the hell did that come from!?" I growl at my TV... Moral of the story is this: +1 all day long. |

There is a lot of sound issues. I've noticed a big one with AR sounds, it can sound like a fight going on 100m away from you is 10m away , there is no variability in the chirp sounds that the ARs make at this point. |

In some matches I get up to half my kills from going carmageddon. I wish it wasn't so easy, it feels about as satisfying as killing someone as they are still materialising onto the field.
LAVs shouldn't just be heard, they should be visible on map to a radius of about 20m IMO. |

It's a problem when large vehicles run around silently. Even if the motors are silent they will generate tire noise, less on paved roads and more off road. Have you ever been snuck up upon by a car driving down a gravel road? Even a relatively silent modern car? Didn't think so.
As it is, vehicles don't interact with the surface in an audible way. |
