I feel there is a need for some kind of dive/roll command, The jump in the air is just not cutting it for me . I have just finished playing Mass Effect 3 to come over to Dust and found the dive in ME3 to be not only useful to get the hell out the way but it also adds a realistic element, im sure if some one fired a bullet at you, you would not jump in the air you would hit the deck/roll out and run. this leads to my second suggestion of some way of doing quick 180 degree turns (Resident Evil style) sometimes the cowards way out is the only option.
Others thaughts are welcome.
Hope this is a fresh and useful suggestion. Uhtread. |

Rolling, good idea. Except for heavies. They would try to roll and get stuck on the ground from the weight XD. |

What are you talkin about?! Us heavies are great at rolling, we have the optimal shape and lots of mass to keep the roll on!

That would be great. To me the jump feels to low and its been rare that I actually use. Now rolling around battlefield would add some more fun to this already glorious game. |

why do you need to dodge bullets when hit detection sucks already? |

I've only seen one first-person game with any kind of "roll" function that worked well, and that was Mirror's Edge, and it wasn't used for dodging.
Dodge functions in FPS games never work well. Dodge functions in multiplayer games are usually some of the most problematic parts of coding the game. |

The fact still remains that trying to dodge or roll or slide would add more realistic depth. As I said in real life if someone shot at you you would try to get the F out the way.
It would obviously have to be role based I.e a scout could dodge, roll more elegantly than a heavy, also the time it takes to get back up would vary, again just to keep it real.

Uhtread. No, it doesn't change the fact that it would add realistic depth.
But realistic depth doesn't always make for good gameplay. There's a good reason why no good multiplayer FPS has a dodge function. THEY DON'T WORK IN FPS GAMES.
Unless you've come up with some brilliant new way to make one work? In which case, feel free to share your idea. |

Why add rolling, sliding and other garbage move when we had, outside of rotation speed, a perfectly mobile and agile FPS just last build ?
