So, since ive noticed while yes, there are decent players, there is a severe lack of tactical awareness. Nobody seems to notice the advantages of very simple things around them. So as i get bored i will write these things for those of you interested to learn.
This one is clearly about hills or sloped obstacles. Clearly when youre at the top, the first thing you notice is clear lines of sight and the ability to see over lower objects. Giving you the upper hand to shoot down at an enemy, shooting over objects the enemy may not be able to shoot over. Its very simple, you on hill enemy no shoot around big rock, you shoot over rock.
Then youve got another very distinct advantage thanks to the stamina system implemented by CCP. You can dip up and down while at the peak, however if youre a too high an angle or simply out of range, the enemy must climb. When they climb they have to watch their footing, jump over crap, and keep their eyes on the top to make sure youre not peaking over about to say high to brain matter.
This gives you a psychological edge, they will be doing far too many things at once, and be worrying far too much. While you mr. Level headed can either go around back to the bottom of the hill look up and laugh as you pick them off. Or place a remote explosive and wait, or simply play duck duck goose and shoot the hell out of them as they climb.
Relish in the thoughts gents. |

I've noticed that snipers like it when you are on top of the hills as well. |

Standing on peaks reduces the chances of taking splash damage, but the liability of being sky lined is a much greater danger after all the splash damage nerfs. There's nothing like being a target from anywhere on the map. |

Probably should be in training ground section? But yeah.. Positioning is extremely important in almost all engagement. |

I find Height is actually a disadvantage when I'm fighting. For example when rushing stairs, if I'm going up them I find higher enemies are a massive target where as if I rush down them, they are alot harder to hit, atleast for me.
Now height with cover might be useful, especially useful when looking down at your targets are you can back off or crouch and be tottaly clear. |

Tactical awareness will hopefully kick in once the game has launched and we get some 'real' maps because for now there isn't really any and there is no need for it. The maps are 20 sq. ft with 2 hills and a building... the only tactical decision for now is who takes which point first; followed by: get to point A - shoot at everything, then get point B and shoot some more. Start over till all points are taken and from that moment on it's like one big turkeyshoot... shoot everything you got at everybody that's not in your team....
It's a universal known fact that standing on higher grounds gives you an advantage in any battle... unless you stand a little to high and your head is clearly visible amongst the skyline. Then you become nothing more then a snipers wet dream.
Once we get the 'real maps' this will all change and standing on your hill will not do you any good... (which btw even know is kinda a freaking bad idea i you really think about it) . While you are waiting for a sucker to come and get you at the top whilst he is looking at his feet and jumping over stuff etc. his squatmembers will simply flank you and shoot you down and you won't even see it coming, since you where focussed on the sucker that actually went after you instead of simply shooting you down. And if they can't hit you they'll just call your location and 'swooop' there goes your brain... since you kinda forgot to factor the snipers in your scenario. And even though sniper numbers WILL go down upon launch there will always be snipers/scouts, especially once the maps get bigger since that's where they can, and probably will really shine.
You got a decent idea... just forgot to factor in quite some things. (snipers/ds/forge/grenades etc) In a 'moderately' fast paced game like this the best option is to keep moving, especially since the maps are still quite small.

LOL I've seen people skylined in a ditch. The low res suit textures light you up as a big ol black blob wherever you are at distance. it kinda sucks cause I know others see me like that as well. |
