As topic says im looking for a good Sata 1 SSD drive, probably around 32 to 50 GB drive, large enough for dust and some loose other items. I can't seem to find SATa 1s and only 2s and 3s, and my limited logic would seem that sata 1s are even cheaper. Anyway Im new to the SSD topic so i was wondering if some kind informant could well inform me and help me find one.
Right now my best bet is This, is this pretty much it? |

Looking at the reviews I wouldn't touch that with a ten foot pole.
You don't need to use a SATA1 drive as SATA2 and SATA3 are backwards compatible(I have a SATA3 SSD in my PS3).
Newegg has several SSDs of the same size for a few dollars cheaper(make sure it's SATA and not mSATA).
My suggestion would be this one for $75 for a few reasons. The first is that you want to keep an SSD only half full, second the on board garbage collection is one of the best(no trim command on the PS3 so you need this), and third Crucial makes good quality items(and they give you a 3 year warranty).
I use the 256GB model of the above drive and have had no issues with it whatsoever. |

I installed this baby over the weekend (backup and restore took 8 hours each for 300GB data). I only could briefly test it on sunday, but man, the difference is awsome
Boot-Time of Dust is only marginaly faster All menus, fitting, market load WAY faster Loading a battle, spawning and ingame is MUCH faster and MUCH less laggy
Overall the game feels much more "this is how it should be"
Also the menu in from the PS3 itself is faster (loading icons)
If you have the spare money, its defenatly worth it !!! |

Overall the game feels much more "this is how it should be" I haven't noticed any difference with the XMB speed.
You forgot to mention the "I just saw a guy close up for the first time" lag is also gone.

I have about ~100 games installed on my PS3, and if I open that game folder, the icons load faster if I browse trough it up and down..
And I also had the feeling that browsing my media server is slightly faster.. |
