Hi guys at CCP!
This is my first time posting feedback about a beta, so I apologize if I don't do it right.
In my humble opinion I think Dust 514 has some serious potential, but there is also a ton of work left to do. First off, the Unreal Engine 3 is capable of so much more than is on display in the beta. Ever y map in the game looks like a giant grey blob, with darker grey blobs acting at buildings, hills, etc... Add all the players running around in there all grey dropsuits and it's just too much. Hell even the sky is grey. Expand your color pallet guys. Throw some rust on those pylons, and some weathering, blaster marks, scorching, etc... on those textures. These maps are experiencing heavy battle, and the objects and buildings on them should reflect that. Change the color of the sky to something a little more dynamic. In a word, the world of Dust 514 is bland.
Secondly, the movement speed and turn speed needs to be increased dramatically across the board. I constantly feel like I'm trudging through mud, even while sprinting. When turning to address someone shooting me in the back, which happens often because spawn camping is way to easy (something I will address in another post), if I can't get around and at least get a few shots off before being killed it's a problem. Killzone 2 multiplayer suffered from this exact problem and was the reason many stopped playing. These battles should feel frantic, and filled with kinetic energy, while still giving players the ability to form complex strategy on the fly.
A difficult balance to achieve I admit.
Please increase the range of almost every weapon in the game. Nothing is more frustrating then giving away your position with a couple of ranging shots. Bullet deviation across distance needs to be increased across the board as well. Switching weapons is way to slow, and reloading time is absolutely ridiculous.
Oh, one more thing. The snap to look down the sights of your weapon are pretty terrible. The sites take up the whole screen and players no longer can see what is going on to his left or right. Check out battlefield 3 to see how looking down the sights is done. No option to just use iron sights, why not?
I love the marketplace, and how deep the customization and skills go. I would suggest adding some more variation on weapons and dropsuits though. I bought three different rifles and all three looked exactly the same.
Thanks for reading, and please disregard if these issues are already being worked on. Like I said at the beginning of this post, there is a ton of potential here. It also feels like it's being developed by a team that hasn't played a lot of multiplayer shooters. That is the market we are going for, right? With that in mind, there are a few basics you need to nail to appeal to that audience, which Dust 514 just isn't doing atm. |

Yeah, just a little sunshine with a few splashes of dynamic lighting could really add some pop. Oh oh...or what about a day/night cycle! BTW, if we are in dropsuits why aren't we 'dropping' into combat instead of spawning. Section 8 did this and it was a pretty awesome feature. Planetside also did something like this with it's Galaxy drops. |

I have to agree, the art direction on display thus far in this game is way too homogenous and earth-parallel. There is so much potential for interesting planet-specific (or planet class-specific) tweaking to really add variance to the gameplay that is woefully lacking right now. A mechanized infantry would have to content with all sorts of crazy conditions: explosive decompression, yeah; extreme corrosive environs, yeah; too much or too little gravity, yeah; Poison atmospheres, yeah; electromagnetic interference, yeah.
Then let's talk about gameplay. I whole-heatedly agree that the game is immensely sluggish. Take the sniper and make his movement rate that for the heavy and upgrade everything else upwards. Why? Because mobility sucks - if I'm in powered armor, why am I slower/have less mobility? I should be able to jump more than five centimeters. I should be able to run and deploy my intertial damper (inertia works two ways). Vehicles need to move faster too and be a bit more dynamic. They're bland - unintimidating.

Katan Omega, I could not possibly agree with you more, i have felt the same way this has the potential to be huge but as you have said and as we have noticed alot needs to be improved before this hits mass distribution. I feel that this games has a mix Of Mass Effect 3 qualities and battlefield qualities..but leans more towards like Battlefield (which the campaign was not bad but did not enjoy the multiplayer as much so went back to COD now playing Blk ops 2 and there servers are their main problem now) but to the point the switching of weapons and reload speed..simply this Play Mass Effect 3 multiplayer and switch guns and reload and i believe that is an adequate level of speed in both departments...and yeah the spawn killing and by the time you turn around your dead scenario i turned up my sensitivity so bout to see if this helps any with that as in most fps in seems to help.
