This weekend I'm looking for a people that have the skills to equip Assault Mass Drivers to help me test out a concept within the game. If you don't have the skills (or can't get them quickly) don't bother reading the rest of this post.
The concept I'm going to be testing this weekend is the use of a small team of Assault Mass Driver users paired with a spotter to function like a mortar squad. To be clear this is NOT just several people with mass drivers swarming together. This is about using a trio of Mass Drivers to fire from out of line of sight at coordinates called in by the spotter. This will involve using compass directions as reference so a good sense of direction will be helpful.
The purpose of this is to test the CONCEPT. This is not an attempt to create a fully realized setup, it is simply to see if it can be done and to discover what kinds of problems might be involved.
If you're interested in testing this or simply want to discuss the idea join the chat channel "Experiment Group" in game. |

I'm game. keep in mind I tried this before and they're more "micro-artillery" than mortars. |

I have the SP but not always great at hitting moving targets. Also keep in mind that when tilted up too far, they don't even hit the ground. |

I can get kills with it at max range easily
I wish my stupid ps3 was working :/ I'll have it back soon though and I'm interested if you do any more future Mass driver squads |

The OP explained this to me a little better in game- a spotter will be telling us where we're hitting, while a group of 3 of us constantly fire from a good deal away into an objective.
Sortof like a miniature precision strike- only it lasts much longer. |

Assault mass driver is the only weapon I equip. Mass driver:5 proficiency:1, sharpshooter:2
This is a great test concept. I would be interested in helping or at least hearing how it goes |

Your effective range is going to be extremely limited with the fuse on the projectile at that point your already within AR range and might as well not screw around.
Edit: though i would love to be proven wrong. |

I think I have seen something similar to this going on during a 5 point skirmish. One of the objectives was raining down mass driver rounds all around it, at first I thought it was a dropship but there wasn't one in the sky and there was no tanks on hills. It wasn't until one killed me that I knew it was mass driver. seemed to be atleast 3 guys doing it I think. I don't see how it benifited them that much with it being a 5 point, on a 3 point this tactic can probably help win a battle. Good thinking OP |

Objectives A and C on Manus Peak are great targets for MD indirect fire. Use a friendly Scout to locate targets at a distance for artillery shelling.
Haven't done it myself, but I've been a SHotgunner joining an attack with 2 indirect firing Mass Drivers and a Sniper. It was great. |

I use this tactic quite often, especially on Manus Peak around C. It works wonderfully with one or two MDers but you need someone watching your back as well. |

I used mass drivers to clear the tower campers in the line harvest map. That is well outside of ar range.
I had wondered about this use of mass drivers. Is there an in game channel to meet up for this test?
Won't the different levels of sharpshooter affect the point hit. It seems to flatten the arc at higher levels. I have mass driver I, light weapon sharpshooter V, and light weapon sharpshooter proficiency at II. So, 132.5% the range of somebody without sharpshooter skills. I need 25k more sp to use the assault mass driver.
Ideally for this the aim down sights would give a readout of elevation. |

Due to very few people showing up in the chat channel today I'm ending the testing for today. I'll ask around and set a more specific time window for when to meet up tomorrow.
Again the chat channel for this is :
Experiment Group
As to sharpshooter effecting the grouping of the rounds, things like that are the whole point of testing these sorts of things out. Until someone tries it and talks about it we can't really know.
Also, that channel is always open for anyone wanting to discuss these types of concepts and testing them. |

While I'm probably going to be on much of tomorrow I'm designating from 6:00pm-10:00pm UTC (that's from 1-5pm for those on the US east coast) as the window for testing. If you want to help see if this concept can work drop into the chat channel during that time. |

Card and anyone else with info;
How did this turn out? Was the testing effective? I will get logged onto the Experiment Group channel to see if it is still active. I am interested in assisting with further efforts.
Thank you for any feedback.
Respectfully,
Howard Sanchez
