I know the PS move is a gimmick. i don't care, I love it. It's why I chose dust over other MMOFPS (or whatever you want to classify this game). I know only a minority of people use it, but I hope there is a developer that at least tries it, because the problems are pretty obvious.
and I know that it's been said before, so this is just a reminder:
PS Move is decent for hip firing (most weapons), but trying to kill someone at range with the move is extremely difficult. Compared to mouse/kb, the difference is unbelievable.
laser rifle - useless with move. I tried it one time, spawned right in front of someone. I'm a heavy with a laser, so the guy freaks out, starts backing away and trying to get cover, then he realizes that my laser goes all over the screen, but not where I'm aiming. He stands in front of me for a moment, probably laughing, and then tears me apart.
Some suggestions that every move game should have: Calibration check - before battle - preferably on the calibration screen
Quick calibration in game - I have a 50% death rate while calibrating in game. it would be nice to hold the select button down, and do a quick calibration in 10 secs.
better crosshairs - our crosshairs are not in the center, but all over the screen (which is how it should be). The problem is they sometimes disappear with certain colors or explosions and I can't tell if I'm actually aiming at anything at all. I'd like to be able to choose a different crosshair or color, or something to make it easier to see.
Moving gun - if an enemy is standing in the bottom right of my screen, he's blocked by the gun. I have to put my cross hairs on the gun and I can still hit him, I just can't see him. Other games show the gun moving to point at the target, and allow you to actually see what you're shooting at.
I'd like to have customizable controls, mainly for use with various guns. But this may be just wishful thinking, because it seems very few games have this despite much desire for it. I'm not sure why this is the case. |

Just got the Move and navigation controller so I can see what it's like (plus the sharpshooter makes it feel like an arcade game so I get all nostalgia-y) and I agree the crosshair is one massive problem, most of the time I have no idea what I'm shooting at and sometimes, especially when holding a large weapon, I can end up losing sight of the target.
Not to mention it looks silly with the bullets coming out of a barrel at all sorts of angles... Seriously, not winning the favour of the move weilding playerbase CCP.
Edit: Also, like to note rumble/vibrate/dildo mode on the move is a pain, makes long range aiming feel like I'm a recovering crack addict. |

Just picked up the whole kit and kaboodle and tried it tonight.
My thoughts:
First, the pain. Arggghhh, my fricking shoulder has a knot in it the size of Manhattan from all the stress.
This thing is terrible. Granted, I've never used one before, but it..is..awful. I tried changing the deadzones, sensitivity, changing firing position, recalibrating multiple times, and tried to get used to the movement control through everything. Half the time I spawn looking at my feet.
I can't hit the target, not even as a Sniper. The crosshairs are fiddling and jigging, and jumping all over and when you fire, it just gets worse. This happens even when you have it cradled with your arms and the gun resting on your lap. Even when you turn the sensitivity down to 50.
Yes, the gun gets in the way when you are trying to sight a target and your position is off.
The movement is terrible. Outside the deadzone, you often just fling your look around when you try to change directions. On the edge you gradually move, but a hair either way and your either dead still, or you're flying off again. You can flick and move, and it's not bad, but trying to do this while running is painful.
They shouldn't even have sights and look in the same mode; there should be a toggle for look. Thining of this, I wondered if the left toggle couldn't be look, and the square button walk. Aim as you want, change your view with toggle movement, and push square when you want to move. Strafing might be a problem obviously, but there should be 2 toggles on this thing.
I'm going to try dropping both deadzones down to minimum so it's aim where you look of sorts, once I feel like putting up with the thing again.
I had to recalibrate this thing multiple times too. What's with that; just a bad design on the part of Sony? The first time, it just suddenly started looking at the ceiling, and I had to point it at the floor to center my view. After that, it just randomly shifted here and there, and I'd have to move left or right in my seat to bring it in line again. ..or change how I lifted the Sharpshooter.
I might have to try without the Sharpshooter, to see if it's easier handheld.
Also, randomly shooting without pulling the trigger? Happened like 2-3 times. Just like that, it's on full auto, or maybe just a short burst, like the 2nd time.
Weird. I didn't buy used.
I don't hate it, because I haven't yet reached the conclusion that it's completely hopeless, and actually, I want to try it in another game to see if it functions better elsewhere.
Also, never calibrated it on my PS3 before I played. Did that after from settings, and hopefully it'll work better next time.
Either way, movement and aiming is absolutely awkward to terrible, respectively. |

Agreed. It's useless in its current state.
I played quite a lot (most of the time really) using it some time ago, but eventually I got sick of losing track of the cross hair, having it obscured by the weapon, only being able to aim with the AR etc.
The worst part however was the total lack of accuracy. Not only did was it impossible to pull the trigger without the cross hair taking quite a jump, but even if I somehow managed to keep the aim on a target I wouldn't hit it. In the end I didn't even try firing unless I managed to get really close (AR at shotgun range, shotgun at melee range).
Tried it again after not having touched it for two+ months and it was even worse than I remembered -- mostly because I've gotten used to being able to hit targets at the range they hit me...
EDIT: I've also played Killzone 3 using the Move, it works a lot better there. |

I would also love to have move support. MAG and Killzone works beautiful, but Dust is useless at the moment.
Sharpshooter is even worse than hip shooting.
Would be nice to have some sort of cross hair while or after calibrating to make sure the calibration actually worked. Can be very simplistic.
Another problem I found was that if by the off chance you do get the move calibrated correctly then it seem to lose its calibration after a short while of playing.
I do not see this happening in MAG or Killzone. Sports Championship 1 and 2 archery also seem to be the best in move support, which can be a good example to copy.
Also I am all for move custom controls. Especially knife gestures. I hate that. Every time you gesture to knife someone the camera goes crazy. Why can't it be a button or give us the option. Does sony force fps games to use the gesture ? Makes the knife unusable unless you like dying.
Other than this the game is fun.
One off topic question. Where can I find information about how to get more skill points ? What is the calculation. My SP and ISK rewards seem to be the same no matter what I do. I always get the full contract ISK and a couple of thousand SP. It loses its challenge and get boring if you get full rewards no matter what you do.

If I may make a suggestion , try using these weapons 1-Assault Rifle 2-SMG 3-HMG 4-Laser Rifle 5-Mass Driver When using these weapons with Move try increasing deadzone and aiming at the edges of the screen doing loops I guarantee that your friends will think you are using Hax. |

Couple of things i feel are important to use the move.. 1:turn off the vibration. It throws your aim off when you scope. 2: more light is better for calibration. You wouldnt think a lighted ball would need more light, but it helps to turn all the lights on and maybe add some more.
Of course the controls could use improvement, but considering how bad they were on the first move build, i can only assume some dev is working to make them better on the next one.
Oh, and one parting thng. The sharpshooter isnt that good for fps. You cant turn as well, but it is awesome for "lightgun" gallery shooters. |

I used the move for the first time over the weekend and I have to say... it's not well. many of the points already stated are very valid (I'm not using a sharpshooter). I've used move before in other FPS (for instance MAG) and it works just fine. I also have several other MOVE games (including sports champion and sorcery) and this is by far the worst of all of them.
1. Crosshair: I found this to be jittery and difficult to aim. The corsshair jumps around. Adjusting sensitivity doesn't really do anything for it.
2. Spawning: Everytime I spawn in, I am looking straight up into the sky, no matter what position I have the move controller in. Spawn BAM.. looking at the sky. That's a huge problem as I have to spend the first few seconds to re-adjust the camera.
3. Position: Because you have to hold the controller in the same position at ALL times, you arm gets very tired and very stiff very quickly. I mean, why do I have to hold my controller like i'm holding my gun while in my MQ? |

I just wanted to add my voice to the Move users who would like Dust 514 to work as well as KZ3. The Move interaction is one of the biggest reasons I'm looking to giving my money to Dust 514. |

Once this goes open beta and the iWaggle3D guy gets on the case the developers will know exactly what they need to do to fix it, I just don't know how high priority the Move is to them.
As long as the people interested are vocal about it, it'll help get the point across. There are more potential glowstick wavers than most people expect! |

This game worries me with it's MOVE integration. Granted it has come a long way but, the MOVE is not a new device. They should have it at least playable. The constant crosshairs help. But fighting the crosshairs to do what I tell them to is annoying. The MOVE is my choice. I own in Killzone with it. CCP please help me be great. Fix the playstation MOVE in Dust. |

I use the Playstation Move with the Playstation Move Sharp Shooter. It is incredibly immersive to play like this and I whole heartedly believe that the devs should make serious effort to perfect it's integration.
Along with the issues mentioned above, unfortunately there are serious hit detection issues when using the Move and it makes the game exceedingly frustrating. I am a very good shot and can hit my targets easily but even though I am within range (sometimes within spitting distance) and I can see the hits on my targets shields and armor, the shots quite often do NO damage.
This is a serious oversight and leads me to believe that very few devs have ever used the Move and that CCP really only added it as a gimmick.
Please perfect the Move integration and you will make a lot more of us very happy.
Thank you |

This is exactly what I see too much time. This is always the case using sniper. Due to this I moved my role to assault guy but 50 % of my time is spent to shot for nothing.
I decided to play Dust due to the fact it's PS move capable, but I would to like it and enjoy it as same level than keyb/ms and ds users.
I hope to see real PS Move integration improvment soon.
Imagine the real frustration these last days, launching the game, then seeing PS Move screens and finaly that it's not playable
Thanks for your help. |

The sniper shots doing no damage for some people may be unrelated to the PS Move. It's a bug that is in their weekly update list as of at least the week of October 16th but still hasn't been corrected. There is also no update on when a fix might be coming for this as far as I know. |
