Snipers are a neccessary Evil !!! However you guys that jump into skirmishes and go to the top of the mountain and ROAST MARSHMELLOS all match long are not good. Even though you go 12-2 your team loses. When the match was over did u evaluate and learn from it like a real clone is supposed to?
Personally I HATE SNIPERS THAT DONT MOVE AROUND and when i get killed by one i go into the mountains if it takes me all game to kill him / her. Some ppl hunt tanks i hunt snipers camping snipers !!!! It doesnt always work, sometimes its a epic fail , if they see me comming and have a shot its over ! this is the nature of DUST 514.
I respect the Heavy , breathing hard, sweating, holding the gatling gun waiting for some unsuspecting merc who sees his ping above his head. " He's not moving he knows im shooting at him but wont come out, (im going in for a better shot). oooh noooooo he just came out of hiding, its a fatboy. I can outrun him but not his barage of bullets and man did he spray !!!! Well back to the clone depot for another expensive shiney suit..... man that HEAVY sure takes and gives a punch.''
Back to the topic..... Snipers!!! Dear SNIPER MERC, we (your team) cannot cap letters in skirmishes if we dont have cover fire from you. This is where the you (the sniper) comes in handy, just a scenario. You are on the mountain 1 full squad of 4 enter the letter. Scwooshs, Scwooshs, ( pluck .... pluck, the sniper just shot 2 red dots) we finished the other 3 red dots, now its clear. Lets take this objective!!!, Hurry b4 they respawn !!! Capped, cool, lets move on to the next red letter. Does this sound like a good scenario? Sounds like many ive had.
Heres the problem when we go to the next letter the SNIPER (YOU) stays put. You pull out your sleeping bag and CAMP the original objective. We move on and die from guess what ? SNIPER FIRE. If SNIPERS wanna get love from us GRITTY MERCS, who go in under any circumstances, even dealling with, THE BIG SLOW MONSTER and his / her death dealing choice of wepons, not to mention the tanks the lavs the dropship etc.... you SNIPERS should move with your sqaud.!!!!!
Find spots for every map and letter not just on spot ! "OOOOH.... let me shoot at the re-supply depot from this tower all match long. When the enemy comes to hack, ill get alot kills and LOOK GOOD but i really suck " "Aww man my teamate at the base of this mountian just got shot by a SNIPER, I wonder where he is im gonna shoot his kitten
Read the death / whose dying list, as it scrolls. Looking down your sights makes you blind to all the info the interface is sending you. It will tell you hey my ppl are dying from SNIPER FIRE. You as a sniper should be mad your kind is killing YOUR TEAM !!!.
Think about this if there are 16 ppl 2 a squad if 9 of them stay in the mountains sniping we only have 7 ppl on the battlefeild running around trying to win against all odds. Let one of those guys on the ground pull out a tank and 3 mercs get in. Now its only 4 mercs taking the brunt of damage and losses. 1 full squad is really doing all the work against 16, and they still gotta look out for the red snipers..... SNIPERS SHOULD HUNT SNIPERS!! do u really want your slow moving heavy to climb the mountain chasing your merc type... he cant cap letters or MOW down the assault guys, if hes hunting snipers hence we loose the contract and maybe theses guys wont hire us anymore.
No work means no ISK, which means no more shiney toys to play with in these dropsuits......

As a sniper.... I agree =p. I personally try to cover an objective that my team is assaulting and I hunt down enemy snipers because I love hitting them from across the map XD. However, if a sniper is in a really good spot for the objective just captured, it can be better to leave them there to protect that objective.
So me and my squad just capped A and they move onto C. I stay on my mountain with my campfire and can of beans and I see a few reds heading into A. I start shooting at them, but I also inform my team that we have enemies inbound.
Defence is as important as offense. Your team can't always just roll from one objective to the next in hopes of getting to the red line and calling it quits. If your sniper isn't helping defensively or offensively, suggest the above to them if they're in your corp. If they're a blueberry... well... you're screwed either way XD.
Easiest way to get a friendly sniper killed, run up to there location and just jump around and stand in front of their scope. Enemy snipers will kill him and he (hopefully) will try something different.
Edit: But is this really the place to be posting this? Shouldn't this be in general discussion? |

Defense IS, as impt as Offense and you sound real reasonable. It would be nice if there was a training school for snipers. The the reason most other mercs have a sour lemon pucker for snipers is just that. When does the Defense end and the Offense begin.
I have 2 grind, jump, run, dodge, shoot, hide, cap, change loadouts bring in a swarm launcher to kill the tank or lav, respawn do it again, the tank dies the lav blows up. Now i got this laser rifle breathing down my neck oooooooooh my gosh there goes that scout with the shotgun (much respect to you. You are light in the moon but u got heart), and just when i think ive made it to the objective fatboy is waiting to greet me with his favorite pet. 2 bite me.
Yet i look to the sky wiping the blood off my cheek (i dont even know whose it is) and as i glance just past the mountain to ask for more strength to continue. I notice out the corner of my eye, the sniper, and, he has SMORES AND A SLEEPING BAG All i can think of at this moment is " this is a reason for freindly fire and mishaps".
If he only knew that he really should have more than that sniper rifle in his hand . All i wanna do now is chuck him a pulled pin grenade, yelling Catch and tell him THANX for DEFENDING ME AND THE OBJECTIVE you have done a great job !!!!!!!
I may be 8 and 12 but i have 975 wps wooosie, but you dont hear, or feel me though !!!

it must get rather cold out there camping already taken letters, covering one self in dust blown from across the battlefield occasionaly catching sight of a real battle. Try dusting your shiny suit off, not like theres a chance of getting real dirt on you anyway, pack you little camp spot up and DIE fighting rather than falling asleep and hoping your team mates yelling at objectives even your farsighted firles cant see as you cower behind that overtly large rock keep you awake. running in and out of the redline of the map dont make you a good player just a lousey wast of space in a team at least trying to fight. grow some nuts find a resupply and get a real weapon, even try using that medkit..........

It's gonna be a shame, when one of the trophies for this game is something like, "Kill 2,500 enemy soldiers with a sniper rifle."

Just for the record MR. Sniper this in not a tread bashing you, takes some skill to use that thing. What im saying is become a Universal Soldier that adapts to what is going on in the BATTLEFiELD. Skirmishes are different for Ambushes. Its not all about the Kill. Any REAL sniper like SWUFY would recognize what has been posted and Step up His Game. 
The mountains cannot hide you from the wrath of an Angry Merc with many tools at his / her disposal. In the Battlefeilds of Dust 514 we all must DIE to LEARN how to become better Clones. Please Take the memories with you and Grow from them. Always strive to learn new skills and bring them with you the next time you spawn. I need your help as an ALL AROUND SOLDIER.
Together we can win !!! Join me sometimes below the mountains and ill embrace you !!! You are after all a CLONE Built for the fight.

yes i pull out the lawn chair and sit on the mountain i usually shoot snipers off the other mountain but i cant resist a free kill from some one trying to cap are objective right in front of me.
ooh so u want me to let him have what u just sacrificed isk trying to take in the first place.
ill admit some snipers are not worth the isk that they put on the field but some of us try to help a lot but some times we get scoped down by another sniper.
you think its easy to sit there and shoot them from afar but its not it take time and patients to snipe some one on the move a stationary target is easier to hit than the one running at u
with out snipers on your team who would the other team snipers shoot at (answer) YOU 
so with that being said i think u need to rethink what u are saying about snipers
on a map where i was the only sniper 10/0 and the system doesn't count the others i took down to low armor and my team took down 
your friendly snipers are most likely in a combat at range trying to the kill enemy sniper so he can help u by picking off targets neer u
ooh and if u had a mic and told us where to look for the sniper it would reduce the time it takes to find them.
all i can see is a shadow in the distance i have to scope over them to see if there who im looking for most snipers us a reduce there sig it makes it harder to find them |

I enjoyed reading this.
It reminded me why my girlfriend is the kind of sniper who can sometimes get half the enemy team preferentially targeting her to the exclusion of all else - including objectives and their own K/D ratio.
I've seen her support a group of blueberries while they assault a skilled, coordinated and well-equipped squad, and the only kills were from blues with Militia gear. She got an Assist with almost every kill that didn't have her name on it. Then while her teammates were busy hacking, she not only shot anyone approaching the objective, but drew their attention because they were raging so hard over the sniper killing them.
She's almost never in the same place twice in a row when you see her, and if she is, it's because she's moved through several positions and returned. If she notices an enemy sniper (or counter-sniper), she's always one of the first to engage, and frequently draws their fire from more mission-critical targets even if she can't land the kill.
I've seen her in games where she's running an average of 1 kill per 4 deaths, but her WP count is one of the highest on the team. Where necessary, she moves in to hack objectives. It's common for her to be on or near the front lines, taking fire while drawing pure rage out on the enemy team. People who hate snipers seem to go crazy when she shoots them. One shot, then she disappears. Instead of worrying about the SMG guy next to him, her target will come running, only to get shot in the back by the "lesser" threat. That enemy will respawn, and blame the SNIPER instead of their own overreaction. She gets hunted, and killed, and keeps several enemies chasing shadows in the hillsides away from the objectives for THE ENTIRE MATCH. |

As a sniper since June, they are just as important. We give cover fire, can give overhead info about what is happening and can place down squad objectives much easier. It would be nice if hit detection worked though so my shots actually counted... |

Don't blame the player blame the devs for limiting snipers survivability in these types of games... Make snipers more mobile beef up their defenses let them carry a shotgun or smg with the rifle and slow them down just a tad. Don't make them be stationary to be accurate instead make them have an accuracy modifier to their range.... Close combat with the rifle lucky to hit so pull out the smg and move with your squad... See a red dot in the distance switch and pull off a quick shot.
Build more options for mobile snipers in choke points throughout the map rather than mountain tops so when a squad gets held up the sniper can drop back and setup shop.
Another option... Look at sniper teams in the military... Never are they alone... Build a mechanic to allow squad members to increase a snipers abilities.
It's sad to see people get abused and bullied because they like a certain play style. It's not their fault but the developers for not giving them the means to join up with a team. |

It also doesnt help that because of snipers having STUPID HUGE amounts of initial and moving sway that it is impossible to hit something unless moving. GAME MECHANICS FORCE US TO CAMP, GET OVER IT |

I'm not bashing snipers i'm trying to help improve sniper play, from my eyes anyway. If you dont fit this description, dont be mad !!!

I love dropping fatboys.lol It's really hard to do but you get that extra special feeling when you do so. ^_^ Same goes for when I kill snipers. ^_^ You have to out-sneak the sneak. |

I played a game with 2 real good snipers on the other squad. They had me chasing ghosts. When i went to hunt them they had already moved and plucked me at the original position in which i was searching for them. I went to the second position when i spwned I got sniped again.This chase and hunt went on all match... whoever you 2 were with those iskohune's great job no marshmellows there......real sneaky. I LOVED IT !!!!! MUCH RESPECT!!!!!! I was 4/10 that match thx for giving a clinic on how 2 snipers with movement can work, covering each other .....Sorry 2 say, I was the rat in the trap. lol
