Lately, I have been seeing alot of people doing this repeatedly in order to save their KD or just **** you off.
Get into a lav, hop into the gunner seat, shoot you, if their health goes down, jump back into driver seat and drive away without any problem.
Personally, that somewhat frustrates me merely cause it gets abused alot. It would be great if we could shoot the drivers or the passengers off the LAV when we shoot directly in the seats instead of having to blow up the whole lav. |

You can't shoot from in front of the LAV and hit the driver or passenger on level ground, but you CAN shoot down from above, or into them from the side.
When the gunner is aiming at you, only the head will be a recognised target, anywhere else will hit the LAV. From the side or behind the entire body is exposed. |

I personally think the lav's shields should protect the driver and passenger, possibly gunner to an extent |

confirmed got a direct hit with a forge gun to a LAV and basically did no damage, because i insta popped the driver instead.
and i guess the shield should cover them too, but this will give an even bigger draw back to armor vehicles |

What if the shields are still around even after depleted but the armour stiill takes damage |

you can do it, just gotta aim correctly.

Heck, I've hit drivers, passengers, and gunners out a LAV with a forge round (wish it had the LAV instead though). You can do the same with dropship gunners. If you see someone running back to their lav aim for the driver seat.
Personally, I would like if at some point in the future we had animations for getting into and out of vehicles. |

I've dropped LAV gunners with AR's, Sniper rifles, laser rifles, scrambler pistols, and even with the SMG. Never been able to hit the driver or front seat passenger, but I've been picked out of the driver's seat when I stopped to let my passengers off to capture a point (that'll teach me to sit still).
PS, if it was me you saw going for roadkills, it wasn't for the KDR, it was for sheer amusement value. It's amazing how many times you can drive the same route for 1-5 roadkills each pass before anyone gets smart and spawns in with a swarmer, forge, or even AV grenades to put and to the mischief. |

As a sniper, headshotting a gunner (or the driver =p) is awesome. However, if you're to the side or behind the gunner, thenn the body shots do count. The difference is the large turret between you and the gunner when you're in his sight, and that IS part of the LAV, so it's okay.
I believe this is functioning as intended. |
