Hey guys,
I thought I'd make this thread to discuss the roles that the dropship should fill on the battlefield, and what bonuses and such should be implimented to encourage players to use them in ways that are helpful.
I will post my suggestion below, but feel free to go ahead and post your own :) |

Personally, I find that dropships act too much like a gunship and not enough like a flying taxi. Someday I think we should dedicated gunship vehicles, and that the current dropships should primarily be for collecting the scattered footsoldier from throughout the battlefield, inserting them behind enemy lines, and them airbombing them onto the points.
Here are to changes that I think CCP could make that would encourage dropships to act more like, well, dropships:
1. Allow the pilot to jetison the 4 non-gunner passengers by pressing the Square button. This would allow for the strategic and simultaneous drop of troops as a squad instead of them randomly popping out one at a time. Troops could still jump on their own.
2. Give the pilot an "assist" for every kill or hack that those players earn within 10-40 seconds of leaving the ship, similar to how they do when their gunners get a kill. This would encourage pilots to spend time not only floating around the battlefield firing their turrets, but to actively pursue picking up troops and bombing them directly onto the capture points and enemy targets where they will be the most useful.

Cloaking cap vamp still sounds fun. Vehicles are really missing a lot of their core mechanics atm. |

well fine. I didn't happen to see those threads, so I made my own. As long as the idea is already floating around out there, I guess that's what's important :)
as for the writing, I agree. I normally put more effort into my threads than this, but I was in a hurry while writing :) |

ive been using my dropship as anti-tank mostly. I am not going to bother with the CRU types since it will fill with blue dots that don't leave. I would like to see the sky ceiling raised since we cannot rain down missile fire anymore and anyone with a forge can hit us if we are not behind something. An eject button would be nice but I can see it being somewhat abused. |

Not sure if they got it from here or somewhere else, but it looks like CCP is considering adding something similar to the XP idea in the OP
