Quote:==Forge Gun Hit Detection== I often lose ships to proto forge guns. I am fine that they can do massive damage and hit me long range but most the time there is no way to determine where they are at. A simple blimp or something on the radar for a second would help. Our camera angles do not allow us to see where things are coming from and these are futuristic ships right? I use the radar a lot to determine where enemies are and where to fly to. A massive forge gun on the ground sound not be so invisible, the trail last for too short of time. A balance of hit detection is suggested.
This is from Brush's Dropship V6.0 and it raises a good point. It seems that an active scanner is really only a piece to the puzzle. Dropship pilots can't see anything really, so an extended radar range or a completely new type (gonna get hate by computer programmers) should be implemented to help keep DS pilots a little more wary of whats going on.
But why stop there? Maybe the speedometer that's mentioned in other threads should be put on the LAVs. If I think of something special for HAVs it will go right here:____________________________
Again, bigger problems, just a suggestion |

I'm bumping this back because with a little more DS experience, I can add some more HUD suggestions.
Dropships- Need an altimeter, because flying low with them but keeping your eyes on the enemy ends up in a crash. Should I known how low I was getting, it could have been averted. The altimeter would be like our second set of eyes, telling us when we might crash while we watch the HAV shoot a blaster at us.
LAV- The LAVs, other than a speedometer, could use a better Radar set up. If sonar can map the Sea-Bottom, why couldn't it be used to map out features and put them up on to the radar. Example: LAV is parked on a road, on the radar, instead of seeing red dots and blue dots, it also sees the road ahead of it, behind it, and structures and formations like buildings and hills/extrusive rocks. Therefore, if a HAV an enemy is behind me on radar, I could see what obstacles are between me and them.
HAV- HAV Commanders could find it useful to have a distance to target meter displayed somewhere stationary. It would also enable them to keep tabs on a vehicle as long as it is on TAC-Net somewhere. It would look like the Swarm Launcher Lock, but would have no functionality other than sending Information on that vehicle/infantry to the drivers and turret gunners. Locking on would be similar to Swarm Launchers as well |
