note:you could still see how much armor and shields they have from ADS
Having the health bars hidden unless you have a mod equipped would make the gunplay more realistic and add a mod for those who enjoy scouting to have a larger role as they would be the only ones who could see the hostiles health and 'mark' targets for their squad to take out.
why bother taking out the bars if you can still see the armor/shields in ADS?
the answer :It's faster someone with the mod could see multiple targets while the assault guy without it could only check one at a time as I mentioned before making those who want to scout that much more useful so more would play this role.
having the health hidden also means that you won't know how much health hostiles have left making you much more wary when engaging hostiles
as always my fellow dusters any thoughts and ideas you have are welcome below if I think of anything to add ,or you think of anything to add, I will do so. |

I like it. Maybe instead of a module, make it a built in passive skill for scout suits. Logis already get a built-in passive +10% to hacking speed.
Also, I wonder if the health bars cause the frame rate to drop whenever they appear? It seems like everytime someones health bar is about to load my frame rate drops to 1. |

no idea about the health bars effecting frame rate.
however having it as a built in skill for scouts removes the ability for other suits and I believe the scout gets cloaks maybe a 10% increase to intel gathering like the logis get 10% to hacking

I noticed that I never truly explained how the mod would work:
Intel gathering levels and what you get from them each level note I haven't thought of proficiency so suggestions are needed!
L1: ability to see health of the target
L2:ability to see what type of suite/vehicle hostile is using
L3: ability to see what weapon(s) hostile is useing
L4: Ability to see what low power mods hostile is using
L5:ability to see what high power mods hostile has
and for the scout suit a 'lock on' system that shows the targets position even after leaving the scouts los (just a thought)
as I said any ideas for pro are welcome |

We still need to ask the question: What kind of game are we making here?
If it's more like Halo, then we shouldn't need to know how much health an enemy has. If it's more like Borderlands, then we should know how much health the enemy has.
The biggest difference between the two games is that one uses similar shield strength, and the other uses variable shield strength.
In an FPS, it's more about gun strategy than teamwork strategy. Basically, a team deathmatch is just how many kills one team can get vs another. In an RPG, it's more about player stategy and abilities. Players band as a team because they have different strengths and weaknesses, which makes the team more powerful.
For this game, I would love something that you can activate that paints or tags players so you can see their dropsuit even through walls like an infrared or heat sensor. Unless there is a way to upgrade what is shown in your hud to get even more information from another player, then removing the health bars seems kinda silly to me. |
