So far I am loving the game, it has a LOT of promise, but the one thing that is bugging the living hell out of me...is the extreme disadvantages there are to using a Sniper Rifle over an Assault Rifle...
From what I have been able to tell, using a sniper is, for the most part...rather useless.
Mainly because assault rifles are insanely accurate no matter the distance, deal absolutely ridiculous amounts of damage, and naturally aim faster.
I cannot count how many times I've had someone in my sights halfway across the map and take a shot at them, hit in the head area and they still continue to run around. It then turns out that that person was using an Assault Rifle and turns around to find my orange arrow a mile away, aim in it's direction and kill me with a quick burst.
They should not be that accurate for one...
Not to mention the orange arrow makes it nearly impossible to actually be a proper sniper as it gives away your position to everyone on the map.
I'm not asking for snipers to be made all powerful godly weapons...but I do believe Assault Rifles need to be toned down a rather substantial amount so sniping is actually a viable option.
Thanks for listening to my little rant, and I apologize for the iffy grammar! |

The AR will be addressed.
"Assault Rifles (Breach especially) - the ultimate weapons of DUST 514 Update: The recoil will be tuned up slightly as well as revisting optimal range for weapons in general in future updates. "

people hate AR for 2 reasons. They are the most common used weapon and the rifle skill is the number 1 skill for FPS gamers and it carries over between games better than any other.
Snipers are going to be more skill intensive too. I dont get how you can be bad with a sniper rifle. My alt had like a 8/1 kdr with milita equipment |

I don't think sniper rifles need a buff. I don't snipe because its somewhat easy *if you use some skill* and all you do is sit around. Not my cup of tea.
As for ARs. I don't think they need to be nerfed. Why? Becuase most of the time when your being shot at by an AR they have sharpshooter maxed. The only AR that needs a tweak is the tactical ones. I can shoot these things across the map |

This has no impact on your ability to be a sniper.
You people, I honestly don't know what you expect them to do. Should snipers be invisible, able to shoot across the map with hitscan bullets that kill in a couple shots? Would that really be fun for the rest of the people playing this game?
Planetside 2 has snipers that you can detect just like in Dust, and their bullets have travel time, bullet drop, and they leave a noticeable tracer every time they fire. And yet, somehow, it's still very viable to snipe in that game. Fancy that. Turns out being undetectable maybe doesn't have anything to do with being a sniper. |

Wear a Scout Suit, skill into Profile Dampening, and equip Dampeners.
It doesn't make you literally invisible, but you're not far off either.
Of course, so are the Ninja Knifers and Ninja Shotgunners that will come hunting you while you're busy scoped in another direction. |
