why is there so much work being done to keep hard core player and causal players so close. Hard core players should be better cause they play better. I dont know any other game that really cares. make a construction class that you cant kill and all they do is build stuff and let them have that. dont punish the player that play more than others. |

people who play less make less money. plus the leveling process is intended to take a long time. so just chill out and enjoy the ride. |

ugg makes a great point. Also, EvE manufacturers already construct everything. They have logistics classes already. And commanders/paladins will be force multipliers. Also on that list will be leaders who call in all the great stuff you see. |

I believe the casual vs. frequent player debate is a non issue for CCP as far as the cap is concerned.
1) Any player only needs 2-3 months to max out a single role to be able to compete. After that it's about flexibility. 2) Anyone starting later is at a guaranteed disadvantage.
It's really about pacing skill gain for the game as a whole, so you don't gain every skill available quicker than they can create new ones. |

I've always thought of the problem in a strange way. Wouldn't some planets be more of a hot bed for fighting then others? It would be those planets were elite players of the best of the best would go to slaughter. I'd suspect several planets to be of low value so lower mercs would be sent there. |

I think that's how it will work in the long run, but for now, they're forced to balance it this way.
Come to think of it- why worry about what player base you're attracting while it's still in beta? |

because at the end of the beta and when it is all said and done those that are playing the beta will most likely be those that will still be playing this game regularly . when it releases to the masses as a actual game that is . and most likely that will be the do or die moment for CCP for this game when it releases because players will be talking to friends etc etc spreading the word about how good or bad the beta was and stuff like that when t he game releases that is and not under the NDA . so if the more players whose playing this game when beta is over is good were as if the keep loosing players to other games and players become bored because of the slow pace at which they move with builds or what ever the reason that will be do or die moment for this game itself. |

I honestly don't see the issue with beta's being unhappy right now. CCP already said we're not even seeing half the content, imagine what the game will be like when we're buying MCC's, flying them around planets, using there AA cannons to shoot down fighters trying to weaken defensive spots with hit and runs while 36 mercs drop down and bust up a sector of a planet and set up shop, building defenses and facilities to get the resources and power.
Just thinkin' of this game makes wet noises. |
