I'm a light weapon ground soldier, and I'm wondering if it swarm launchers are any good when you have skills in them.
Any swarm users her that can help me? |

The swarms being a light weapon do not do as much damage as the forge guns however their lock on feature makes them good for taking out lavs and doesn't really require you to aim just lock on and let it rip meaning you can fire and get the hell out of dodge they do more damage to armor then shields (what doesn't) and can easily pick apart a tank with low shields or no shields left if you have got a good one.
Damage is according to the number of missiles that hit the target higher tier swarm launchers do not technically do any more damage but fire more missiles stacking said damage and the assault variant can lock on to two targets at once good for multiple lavs
I recommend getting damage modifiers as well to increase your hitting power and don't forget a good sidearm for CQC
hope this helped
Edit: proximity explosives and av nades are also things you may want to look at
Edit(again): working with another av speced player like a forge gunner or working with a sniper that can get up high and can spot the tank for you works wonders on being able to take out tanks work with other players and you'll find your job will be a hell of alot easyer and make sure you have a guy with a nanohive in your squad can't kill armor if you have no rounds |

Ah, all good advice. That's going to be the next skill I sink points into. |

As long as you don't try to take down competent dropship pilots or shoot at tanks from halfway across the map then swarms are not bad at all. Basically everything what Sinboto said.
Forge guns hit a lot harder and you are more dangerous with them but swarms have their role too. |

In my opinion, everybody should put one level into swarm launcher and create a fitting with the standard swarm launcher. It's cheap and it effectively does twice the damage of the militia swarm launcher, plus there are twice as many shots in the clip. The disparity between the militia and standard swarm launchers is greater than the disparity between any other militia/standard weapon.
So my advice, put a level into it and try it out. You will tear through any LAV or militia HAV all by yourself. You can also do serious damage to better HAVs. If you use the swarm launcher alot, you will definitely want to skill up your sidearm, since it is your only defense against infantry (other than your squad, of course). Shooting things with the swarm launcher is easy, the hard part is staying alive long enough to get in position, lock on, and fire. |

I usually run Militia Swarms (modded Anti-Armour Starter Fit), but when I bring Standard... SO much more exploding. |

I actual checked the other day how much SP it takes to get 'Swarm Luancher Operation to Level 2'. Its under 50k SP!! which is nothing!! I use the basic Swarm launcehr and it still pops LAVS in one volley.
I love my Swarm Launcher, with a 5 clip you can call in some serious hurt on advanced HAVS. I too like blacknova has said run a damage modifier for that extra 5%.
Your swarm launcher fit shouldn't be expensive, i've taken the 'fast, glass cannon' approach with works really well, A couple of quick steps i follow;
1.Get as close as you can without being seen 2. Lock and fire 5 volleys 3.Duck and hide, reload 4.Get nanohives out. 5.BOOM 6.PROFIT!
Really effective when run in a pair of two's, Extra points for AV grenades! |

I just wish they worked on Dropships. Having a glass cannon like that fire and then get taken out in a single shot by a dropship is gonna hurt your wallet no matter how cheap the fit is. Here's hoping we get good things from Plasma Cannons.

Keep the faith. My modded Starter Fit never hurts my wallet when it dies to Dropships.
It costs 0 ISK to pull out another one. |
