I figured this would be the best place to ask.
So I've looked at the weekly updates, did a search and scanned through a few handfuls of threads and like Bono I still can't find what I'm looking for...
Can anyone point me towards or post the answers to these three questions: A) Is the sp cap daily or weekly at this point? 2) Is it a hard cap or soft cap? D) What is the cap specifically, i.e. 20k, 30k...?
The weeklies never gave specifics and kept saying planned... The searches came up with pages of no answers regarding these questions, and the threads were the same. I thought I saw something at one point but I just can't find it again.
Thanks for any help that can be provided. |

What he said, and i believe it was stated somewhere that the Hard Cap is set at 500,000 SP per Week. If you get to that number you start earning 0 SP per match. As long as your getting SP, you havn't hit the Cap.

They've recently been moved to Wednesday down time.
Also it's worth noting that the "anti-grind" kicks in well before the Hard Cap so in effect we have both a Hard Cap & a Soft Cap in play. It is important for anyone new to the game to keep this in mind so as not to get the wrong idea about their performance in match when SP awards start to dwindle.

More new info, awesome!
And the "anti-grind" thing you bring up is a good point. I didn't know about that but I will say it starts getting a little disheartening when I've had a good game (for me) and I walk away with only 2k sp...

As someone who has only been playing for like 3 days and I already am at the point of 2-3k SP/game WITH boost, I'm very disappointed... Weekly caps are something I'd expect from Blizzard, and I'm surprised that CCP would want to limit people's desire to play their game. They could at least set it so that the cap only starts to kick in once people have a decent amount (over a million) of SP. Trying to even unlock all the Heavy guns, armor, and shield mods is bad enough, let alone even thinking about upgrading them. So the passive boost is pretty much worthless once you hit the weekly cap? Good to know when release comes along. |

I know what you mean.
Earning 30,000 SP for an excellent logi-bro game, then dropping to 20,000, Then 8,000 is some what of a disappointment, all this with that 30 day Active Booster of course.
I get it though. Preventing people from becoming obscenely overpowered in the first couple of days by simply having more time to play. Also gives the game longevity. When you hit the cap with one character, you can either grind for ISK or switch to a different character who can start doing stuff your main can't/won't be able to for a looooong time. |

Here's a link to the feedback thread I started requesting a Dev Blog on the skill system so that we can get some specifics on where the skill system is, where it's going, and why CCP plans to implement it that way. https://forums.dust514.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=45639&find=unread
If you'd like to see such a blog please stop by and say so :)
Cheers, Cross
ps ~ I think this post is still on topic for the training grounds because an understanding of how the skill system works is as fundamental as anything in understanding how to grow a character in Dust. |

Thank you sir
Also one other skill related thing of note. We now have both Active and Passive skill boosters on the market. As each one applies to a different type of skill gain it currently seems effective to use both types on a character that you are both actively playing that week and have the passive SP gain enabled for.

Running both boosters really helps to get that build idea you have in your head up and running. Without both it starts to become a chore to respec your character to test something. Or start a new one. Especially if your not that good at games like this... Like me.
Soooo, the short of this rambling is I agree with you... |
